What's the jury on Luke Joeckel?

Very few are.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

We need to hit better on our 1st round picks.Caldwell drafts well but hasn't done a good enough job at the top of the draft. It is critical that this years 1st rounder be a stud.

He was borderline bust, in my eyes.  This is his make or break season.

Jaguars LT Luke Joeckel on 2015 offseason: “It’s been going really well. Having a healthy offseason has been huge

Quote:Luke hasn't really "flashed" as a dominant LT to me... I see him getting bullied off the LOS quite frequently.

Technically, this is his "first" year of real experience but he should not be whiffing like he has been.

Your thoughts?

This will be his make or break year I suppose. He started at RT his rookie year, Monroe was traded, his 1st rookie start at LT lands him on IR. He enters his 2nd year with a new LG/C/RG next to him and he's got a rookie QB behind him along with three rookie receivers that are all learning and developing just as much as he is. Not only do I think it's his make or break year. It may be Bradley's as well. Khan may have to decide after 2015 if he's going to keep Caldwell around as well.

If he isn't borderline then he's playing dangerously close to it. I also see it as a 'make or break' season for Luke. I just hope he doesn't 'break' and the injury becomes a free pass for next season.

He was GM Dave Caldwell's first selection two years ago, and he traded away E. Monroe because he felt confident in his ability to play LT at a high level.  He has been injured in his first year causing him not to play immediately after he made the switch to LT & he played somewhat injured last season.  He has not lived up to the hype of where he was drafted at and I would not be shocked if an OT was drafted after trading down from #3 overall.

This has to be a make or break year for him! Or he will go in the tank with the other jags draft bust!

I have very high, unrealistic standards and I will not compromise on them no matter what! I demand satisfaction and domination in all things even though it is extremely rare for such a thing to exist!

You can't predict a guy that's never been injured to break his ankle.  Bortles appears to be a great pick but had little to work with.  I think he's done fine.

Huh

The link above would show you how they rank LT Luke amongst other players on the team...

ESPN - Joeckel looked nothing like the No. 2 overall pick that he was in 2013, but the Jaguars say that’s because he spent the offseason between his first and second seasons rehabbing an ankle injury and wasn’t able to get stronger and fix footwork issues

Joeckel is already that guy that has too many excuses.. Injuries, new coaches.. whatever.. if you can't play, you can't play.. He's too soft for the NFL game, remember the first time we saw him play and we all thought, wow, he looks weak...  but I always hold out hope.

What does that link show again?

Not even remotely close to what he thinks it does, unless he wants to argue that guys like McClendon and Winston Guy outperformed guys like Bortles and Marks last year.

Disappointing to date but not a lost cause yet either.  He's not exactly a turnstile but like Alualu he's well short of the expectations of his draft position.  I'm still optimistic he can turn things around but the leash should be shorter this year.  When a line gives up as many sacks as ours did last year it's difficult to assign the blame on just one player.  Linder has gotten near universal praise, RT has seemingly been addressed, and he's healthy so there's definitely much more pressure on him to perform this year.
