I think realistic expectations should be that the team is at least "in the hunt" when you get past week 13. It could even be one of those long shot 5-7 teams but at least still with a shot.

I'd be happy with that. It sucks being basically eliminated from the playoffs at week 4.

I disagree, i think no matter what, no matter if we lose close games or get killed, the minimum number of wins this teams needs this season is 6. 4-12 is not progress, no matter how you cut that cookie. I defend this coaching staff and regime, but i would absolutely put a win total on this season. 4-12, 3-13 and 4-12 is not exactly "getting better". You gotta produced W's at some point. Heck, i don't even think its outrageous to think we possibly could contend for a playoff spot. That does not mean we will be in the playoffs, but going 7-9 and fighting for a wildcard....thats progress, and something the owner, regime, team and fans can get behind.

Not entirely, its a production based league. Results are all that matter. Ever heard of the saying " the customer is always right"? End of the day, NFL is a business, and maybe not entirely a fan decision, but if we went 4-12 again, you can bet something will happen. 

 

Personally, i do not think this is the case. I back Caldwell and Bradley and i am extremely pro for both of them. I think they are transparent and are building the team the right away. Im even patient and understand this process and why its taking so long for the team to progress. But since we are speaking in hypotheticals, and fans giving their opinion on what would satisfy them, when i heard 4-12, theres no way, not even the most staunch Caldwell supporters could jump on that bandwagon if we were to go 4-12. You don't need the fans for Shad Khan to fire someone under that circumstance.

Instead of Alualu? That wouldn't have made an iota's worth of difference to the Jags record these past 5 years. Maybe if Tebow was on the roster in 2012 we'd have ended up with Ryan Kerrigan and a useful second round pick in 2011 instead of Gabbert.

Sorry, i know injuries and being a young team happen, but no way, can you go 4-12, 3-13 and 4-12 again and expect to keep things intact. NFL is a production based league, and while I'm very pro Caldwell and Bradley, results at the end of the day are all that matter. 4 wins means nothing....NOTHING. If you go 4-12, you pretty much suck, you can be competitive all you want in losses, but 4 wins is really really really bad...you all realize that right? 

 

I don't think this team is going 4-12, and i completely trust Caldwell and Bradley, but boy, no way 4-12 is acceptable in year 3 of a rebuild. You gotta get W's this time around. No matter how you try to spin it, W's are what the team needs. Not necessarily playoffs, but a team thats fighting for a wildcard in the end of November, early December is what real progress is. Sure, if they lose their last few games and miss out on that wildcard spot, go 6-10 ( hypothetically) that is something to build on. Atleast we have a glimmer of hope. 4-12....sorry, thats just sucking and staying the same.

Sure there may be some unusual circumstances where they might survive such as one of the team's planes crash or a Katrina type disaster befalls the city, but if all they have to rely on is bad luck and injury, they will be out the door.

I think the bare minimum is 6 wins but that comes with a caveat. We cannot go 0-8 then win 6 games lol. It needs to be a string of wins or losses. I would be inclined to say if we start 0-5 Gus may get fired at that point. I'm love this regime but winning is a part of the improvement this year.

As long as the Networks pay those multibillion checks to the League, Teams will make business

I would find it hard to understand if Shad didn't have metric for wins this year, expecting a return

on his investment and the results in the W column. 6 sounds about right. We can only wait and see.

They probably won't (and I'm not expecting another 4-12 season, and I'm not expecting them to survive it if there is one). But then I don't know what expectations they've set with Shad Khan, and I don't know what circumstances would lead them to 4-12 in such a way that the coaching staff would be hard to blame. A season-ending injury to an on-fire Bortles at 3-1 throwing Chad Henne back into the starting role would probably be part of it.

Pro Football Focus (PFF) has the Jaguars blitzed the least 15% and was ranked 12th overall as one of the better teams at blitzing.  Which furthers supports the statement that the DBs failed the Jaguars Defense last season not the D-Line which was one of the best last season.

I hope Odrick can perform as good as Big Red Bryant if they don't draft Leonard Williams at LE sharing reps with Tyson Alualu

I pretty much agree...I don't think Gus will get fired this year, but if the jags are still getting beat in every aspect of the game, his seat will be red hot for the following season...I also don't think there is a magic number of wins that must be met...Mr Khan expressed that he will be patient for as long as he can see improvement, in the London videos...He also added that wins must come, but as long as we are improving they will come...That being said, I would believe that as long as it's clearly obvious without having to dissect the play on the field, and try to find, or justify improvement,  in the play on the field, Gus will be safe
