A Case for WR with our first pick

#41

Quote:I like Cooper he is a polished WR and very good, but is he really an elite prospect?

Not big not super fast and not super athletic, I feel if he didnt play for Bama and put up the same numbers he would be looked at as a mid 1st round WR.

Picking him at 3 is insane, unless we had nothing at WR, but we have a group of young talented guys already.

Watkins, Evans and Beckem were better prospects last year

Insane at 3, when many if not most have him off the board at 4?  No, not really.

We're still missing a #1, no matter how much we like our young, talented group of WRs.

The downgrading of Cooper's talent is laughable.  Not elite?  He's one of only about 2 or 3 elite prospects in the draft at all positions.  This draft may short on elite prospects overall, but he's certainly among them.

He's not an elite WR to me and the Raiders picking him at 4 is fine since they have garbage at WR. I have seen Cooper mocked as low as 14, if he was an elite prospect nobody would have him going that low, he would stay in the top 5.

He's not Julio Jones, AJ Green, Calvin Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald

He's like right before that class though.. Really It comes down to if you think Beasley/Fowler are better ... I'm not feeling Fowler which has no basis other than hunch

My best case scenario is that Titans Go Williams and Cleveland or Chicago give up some picks to trade up...

*whispers* Allen Robinson has more upside than Cooper.

If we want a true #1 WR, aka someone with higher upside than what we have, then White should be the pick. Cooper will be quite good, but he's not a #1 WR like that.

you're one of the guys that would of never drafted the great route running and polished WR's Harrison or Holt coming out because they dont have crazy measurables

I just said like 2 days ago that Cooper was second on my wish list after Beasley, I just do so knowing that there is a good chance White becomes the All Pro WR1 type that Cooper doesn't have in him. Cooper can be the WR1 type like Roddy White was for a while maybe, or like Nuk Hopkins probably will be this year.

I think White has huge bust potential. I saw 3 separate games where he got completely shut down. Once by himself(Think about it)

Cooper can be better than white was or Hopkins. He is a much better route runner, much more polished WR, and a much better prospect than White or Hopkins was

I disagree. Him being from Alabama doesn't affect his draft stock. Look at how insanely polished his route running is.

Holt and Harrison are the 2 best comparisons IMO

Those are good comps. I can see him having the ceiling of those guys. One could argue he's a better prospect than Watkins or Evans was.
