Three players to visit ?
|
Apart from the obvious names, which three players do you hope the Jaguars bring in for a visit ?
I'd like to see us check out... Paul Dawson (doubts about character and commitment) Gerod Holliman (can he prove that he can tackle ?) Ameer Abdullah (is he any use in pass protection and if not, does he offer anything we don't already have with DRob ?) Interesting too, I was reading that we interviewed Ajayi - that one passed me by on Wednesday... We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Damarious Randall is the visit I am most anticipating. He is very quickly becoming the #1 deep safety prospect in this class, and would love for Dave to nab him at 36. So much better value than any non-Gurley RB to me.

The athleticism is unbelievable - if we think we can coach him up - he is THE perfect leo for us to groom for a year behind Clemons. Round 2 Danielle Hunter?

I just watched Randall's cut up vs Oregon St on Draft Breakdown because a lot of people are high on him and say that he's the only single high FS in the draft. It was a very bad game for Randall. I lost count but I believe he missed close to 8 tackles alone in the game. He didn't wrap up once and appeared to be afraid to lay a hit. One of the reasons why Earl Thomas is the best Safety in the league is because he is a heat seeking missile when hits and rarely misses a tackle. Randall also got beat bad that was reminiscent of Don Carey. Got completely turned around. He also fell down for no apparent reason multiple times ala Tiquan Underwood. He did register an int but that was on a tipped pass. This is the only game I've seen of him but I don't think he's worth pick 36. I'd much rather draft Byron Jones and convert him to FS.

The big thing I hate when watching him is his get-off. It almost looks like he waits for everyone else get going, and THEN he starts. If he can be coached to anticipate the snap, he'd be a monster. Hunter with Shane Ray's snap anticipation would be very scary.

They teach their front 7 to diagnose plays before they react. The same complaint was often aimed at Mingo, but then you would see those flashes on obvious passing downs where Mingo would show his jaw dropping first step. I imagine that if you looked for those situations with Hunter it would be similar.
Got to say that Pick 36 seems kind of high for Damarious Randall. I think he goes in Rd 2 or else the Titans take him at the top of Rd 3, so I seriously doubt that he makes it to Pick 67.
Right now, the three targets I see for Pick 36 would be Maxx Williams, Eric Kendricks and Melvin Gordon. Jay Ajayi at Pick 36 is also too high. Not sure why the Jags would take Jake Fisher at Pick 36. Cedric Ogbuehi at Pick 36 is also a bit too high for him. People are mentioning a Slot WR at Pick 36 but Tyler Lockett at Pick 36 also seems a bit high. Eli Harold would be sweet at Pick 36 but his stock seems to be on the rise into the latter part of Rd 1. Lots of 2nd tier CBs that could attract a trade down say for an extra Rd 4 pick which could be used to move up into Rd 2 or Rd 3. This draft looks to me to be loaded with Day Two players in Rds 2 and 3 that could contribute early for the Jags. Quote:I'd much rather draft Byron Jones and convert him to FS.I love Byron Jones too, so I'd very much be for doing either one. There are just a lot of whispers nowadays that he is the top CB in the class so it seems a FS transition is not likely. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Wouldn't surprise me at all if he is the first CB off the board but 5'10 might hurt him. Not a big Trae Waynes fan. Unfortunately I think we are going to be stuck with Evans again. McCourty would've been a great get!

Quote:Sergio Bown will start over Evans Brown has been in the league for 5 years and only has 11 career starts. I'd hold off on anointing him our immediate starter at FS.

We are not gonna pick a TE in the 2nd round after getting Thomas, 2nd round is for sure starters or guys who will be starters very soon. And dont say well we can use two TE's, even teams that use the 2 TE sets often didnt spend big on one young TE and then draft another one high, Hernadez was a 4th and Gronk was a 2nd, and I seen other teams draft couple of mid round TE's. We have too many holes to be loading up on TE, which is not that important of a position

Yet, being that the Jaguars brought him in for a pre-draft visit and the following opinion info came out a few days ago, it wouldn't surprise me if the Jaguars are seriously considering Ogbuehi with pick # 36 or in a trade down from that spot: Lance Zierlein
@LanceZierlein After speaking with multiple teams I have no doubt that Ced Ogbuehi's ACL tear will NOT keep him out of the first round. He's going in 1st. 4:56 AM - 7 Apr 2015

IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
Quote:He's still better than Evans..... Honestly its hard not to be I've never really seen him play and most jag fans haven't either. I hope he is the answer but I believe that our future FS isnt on the roster as of yet. Probably a CB convert.
