Quote:and another gets caught in the net…it was sarcasm and tying White vs. Cooper into a Fowler vs. Beasley
I still say if you can tell when a person on this board is showing sarcasm vs. blatant ignorance, kudos.

As far as White goes, I have him and Cooper tied and both worth top 5 picks.  I like White better for the Jags for several reasons.  White is a better blocker.  White has the better ability to go over the top of a defense which is something we lack.  White brings a nastiness and a grit in which our entire offense lacks short of Justin Blackmon who obviously is a question mark and maybe/hopefully Parnell.  I just feel like he's a better fit in comparison to Cooper who is more of a possession receiver with some ability to get over the top.  For a team like Oakland, I'd probably prefer Cooper because Carr needs a more reliable receiver right now.

Quote:And that is the general consensus on Fowler, even by experts. He's labeled the classic jack of all trades, master of none. His biggest strength depends on your preference. For me, it is his pure motor and passion. While he may not excel at most stuff, his non-stop never say never motor is something you have to love. He will never give up on a play.

I like Fowler because he has no weakness. He may not excel at any one thing, but he does everything so well, that he could do well at multiple positions.

Multiquoted for The Wolverjag.

That is pretty much the perfect scenario.  I would be a happy camper.

Would love that if it happened, Shane Ray or Gurley would be a tough one for me at pick 19.  Ray and Beasley coming of the edge with Marks and Ryan Davis in the middle in pass rushing downs would be nightmare for opponents.

That's pretty awesome and would definitely be a dream scenario. Everyday I feel more and more confident we will trade back

Unfortunately I think it's far more likely that the Titans trade down than us.

I disagree. While the Titans only have one trade down scenario (Mariota), I can see teams trying to trade up with us for Williams, Mariota, and a top WR. We just have more options than the Titans.

Compare the measurables. Ryan Davis is basically the spitting image of Dante Fowler, in terms of height, weight, speed, agility, etc.

Yes, Fowler played much better competition... we get that.

But Davis has had himself a nice little year in 2014 as a pass rusher. We'll see how long it takes Fowler to get 6.5 sacks in a year.

And btw, nationally - most people have never even heard of Ryan Davis - hence nobody will compare Fowler to him.

I do think Fowler will be better - but I think if comparing him to Justin Houston is fair, it's more than fair to also compare him to Ryan Davis.

maybe:

floor: Ryan Davis

ceiling: Justin Houston

Floor: Dante Fowler

Ceiling: Dante Fowler
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I don't think the trade market is going to develop into much except for Mariota. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Mariota is a possibility but unless Tenn. is sold on someone other than him and runs to the podium with it, they seem more likely to field the trade options. Still possible for us though.

Only team I see moving up for Leonard is Chicago

And who in the later rounds needs a WR that badly? Only ones that come to mind are the Ravens and maybe the chiefs. The ravens don't seem like a team to do that, its just not their m.o. and the chiefs have maclin now so I doubt mortgaging a whole lot to move down is realistic. And even if it was an option they don't have to move all the way down to 3, they can go anywhere in the top 10 and there will be at least one of those top 3 left and possibly even two of them.

Quote:Agree, same with Shane Ray.  Some of the same people said they wouldnt take Ray at all. 2 of the best pass rushers in the class would would go undrafted if these guys were GMs.

I know what you're saying about Ray. I've even backed off him for the #3 pick after his combine, but I'd still gladly take him a tad later should the Jaguars trade down and both Beasley and Fowler are gone. After Beasley, I say Ray as the best LEO prospect in the draft.

Me, I prefer Dante Fowler, but if the Jags draft Vic Beasley, I can live with it, afterall it is not my buttock on the line.
