WTH?!? Adrian Peterson
|
I was just looking and he carries a cap hit of 15+ million in each of the next 3 years. However, after this year, he would have no dead money. I think I may be tempted. Just because you get him doesn't mean you can't still draft a RB. Bring him in, and try him out for a year. He was a star before all of this. If he works out, good and go from there. If he doesn't work out, cut him and no dead money to hurt you.

I'd give him a serious look for 15 mill a year. He's one of those types of players that COMMANDS the opposing defenses to stack the box against him, which in turn helps out Blake..
Wouldn't be opposed at all..
I wouldn't give anything higher than a 4th, The jags would already be absorbing that contract, so I'm not giving up a valuable pick when I can draft a starting RB in the first 3 rounds..

Will he after a year off and will he on the wrong side of 30? He is an Elite player, but for how much longer? I said it before.. It's so similar to Edgerrin James .. Imagine if Arizona had Peterson for the Superbowl? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
OLD? The Guy just hit 30 and did not have any wear or tear on him for missing all of last year. He far and away the best Back in the league. I would give up a 3rd maybe even a 2nd for him. If you get 3-4 years of high production from him that is a steal. This guy is a terror on the field.
![]() Quote:on the wrong side of 30Another dumb Cliche saying spread around here. How is he on the wrong side of 30? He just turned 30 ![]() Quote:Another dumb Cliche saying spread around here. How is he on the wrong side of 30? He just turned 30 I never said old. There's nothing wrong with using a cliche if you know how to analyze the information .. I see that for a RB that has a fairly recent injury and a lot of carries, I nowhere state he is old or washed up..yet. see once the drop off happens, it's gone.. Most Runners experience drastic drop off very quickly. .. I'm confident he has great seasons, but it's noteworthy when you are talking about giving up picks and putting up huge money. Hence my argument of disapproving extension of higher draft picks for him, and that's the only reason I bring up the point of him getting into his 30's, while most statistics will show you that decline happens in the next few years, especially after he has hit the 2000 carry mark and I don't think you can say that his knee injuries (yes plural) may not start to slow him down at some point.. it's a game of what if's I guess, to your point. I see where it makes sense for Dallas but not Jax because Jax has a developing team and line, so by the time the jags cure those issues, will it be too late? I also point to the talent in this draft class, again.

Quote:Yes because so many workhorse RBs are highly productive at age 34... To be fair, Adrian Peterson is a generational talent and one of the best RBs of all time. Comparing him to average "workhouse RBs" is apples to oranges. Also, age 34 would be his 5th season. The poster said "3-4 years of high production". Emmitt Smith: Age 30- 1,203 rushing yards Age 31- 1,021 rushing yards Age 32- 975 rushing yards Curtis Martin Age 30- 1,308 rushing yards Age 31- 1,697 rushing yards Age 32- 735 rushing yards (12 games) Going back further, Walter Payton and Tony Dorsett were both productive for multiple years in their 30s. You don't write off a generational talent like Peterson because he is 30 years old.

It's not so much the talent of AP it's the cost of said talents with too many unkowns..
I wonder how many people are this loose with their money in real life... Blow a 600k on a 25 year old Porsche with some wreck history that's going to last ya 3 years and might have engine trouble or just buy a new BMW for 100k that will last you up to 10 years. Quote:OLD? Obviously not. If you were the GM and did a deal like this, we could be assured of at least another decade of losing. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:Another dumb Cliche saying spread around here. How is he on the wrong side of 30? He just turned 30 It's only a dumb cliche if you actually look at the statistics of running backs when they hit the age of 30.
Quote:Do you have any clue about the history for running backs after they hit the 30 year old threshold? Obviously not. It's happened time and time again. A highly productive guy at 28 can fall off completely at age 30 or 31. Their body just takes a beating. AP is a freak, but you are still taking a huge chance on a running back. It would be dumb. ![]()
On Jaguar's Thursday, Lageman, Boselli, and Shadrick all agreed they'd give up a 2nd rounder for AP in a heartbeat (But they used a team like SF as an example). That seemed kinda high for me. But I guess it depends on your roster.

Quote:Q uestion for those of us against the idea of trading for AP.I'd be open to that, but trading a pick straight up for him isn't something I'd be on board with. AP is no doubt a great player. But he's 30 years old. Even if the Jags get 4 years out of him, that's all they'll get. I'd much prefer getting an extra first than AP. Now if we knew Blake Bortles was going to have an amazing second year, and blow everyone's minds and get up to the level of Andrew Luck -- then I'd say go for it.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
