Jamie Dukes and Colleen Wolfe of NFL Network: Not big fans of Dave Caldwell or his moves as Jags GM

Quote:I agree with this. Telvin and Linder are already top NFL players. The rest look promising.

My point was that the graphs Pirkster linked to don't prove anything.

Truth is, we're getting more contribution from our drafted players.

You seem to somewhat agree with that.  It's also what the graph suggests, unless you're misinterpreting it or injecting whatever you want to into it.  Which, isn't the problem of the graph, but a problem with your interpretation of it.

Quote:Shorts and Proz both played extensively in 2012. The analysis was the number of games played in 2014; the contributions of the 2011 and 2012 drafts would have looked good if done after the 2012 season. Rackley may have been a joke, but he was a joke who started, which was my point. He's in the same category as Josh Evans. Just because a rookie or first year vet contributes on the graph doesn't mean he's any good.

The only difference here is that the 3 and 4 year old drafts would have looked better from a 2012 perspective, but Gene Smith wasn't going to cut his own draft picks. The change at GM enabled the Jags to part with a lot of the 20111/2012 draft picks.

You and I remember things far differently. I remember that Shorts played in a few games but didn't get very many snaps. I don't necessarily disagree with your overall point, but I'd like to clarify that one.

Do you have the snap count because I can't find it?

In 2012 he played in 14 games (beginning in week 1 so the two he missed were from injury) with 9 starts. He was the Jags leading receiver that year, 55 catches and over 100 targets. I couldn't find a snap count.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I know you specified 2012 in the beginning of your post, but you replied to a comment regarding his rookie year.

I was referring to his rookie year.

IIRC, the only thing he did of note in his rookie year was field punts, and he didn't do that very well.

It's an interesting take but completely out of order in some regards. He talks as though we had Pro Bowl talent on this roster except a terrible QB. Monroe was solid but not elite. We were last in the league in sacks during that era. Had a used and abused RB that had been carrying the team on his back for 2 years. An ex-Pro TE that was overpaid to be on IR. The team was a mess for this regime to inherit. To boot probably our biggest talent on the roster can't get on the field. This is just taking shots at a team/front office based on one trade that left us with nothing to lose. Typical.

No pain, no gain.

Jenny I am not a smart man, but I do know that GM Dave Caldwell drafted Telvin Smith in the 5th round and he's going to be a ProBowl OLB this year, mark my words...
