Quote:Which reminds me how much I like scherff but I just don't think he will be in play for the jaguars. Yea I liked him a lot and had him as I guy the Jags should target preseason but with the Jags picking @ 3 possibly 6/10 I just don't think he is worth it... Another factor was the emergence of Linder and now the Winny signing...I just can't justify the pick...Bowanko has a full season of exp and will be the backup interior...I feel Linder/Winny/Parnell are locks at their position...Joekel is a lock due to no depth/talent pushing him so that leaves Beadles/Bowanko for LG...Scherff could be an option if Beadles were traded/cut but I don't see either. Maybe @ 12 if Cleveland was to trade but even then Parker/Dupree/Gregory/Shelton or someone more enticing would still be there. We show less advertisements to registered users. Parnell and wiz pretty much killed the scherff possibility for me even if we trade down. So I agree there for sure.

I mean looking at the depth chart: LT: Joekel LG: Beadles/Bowanko C: Wiz/Bowanko RG:Linder/Bowanko RT: Parnell/Pasztor Looks pretty decent minus the LT depth...hopefully Joekel lights it up but I just don't see how you could spend a top 15 pick and justify it...I mean I'm looking at Beadles as the weak point but I'd rather give Bowanko a try before I'd draft Scherff Quote:https://vine.co/v/OxlhmW1Y7UV Lol

I went back and looked at the UM/Nebraska game and here's what I came up with:
Randy Gregory lined up the first 8 snaps against Flowers until Duke Johnson's first touchdown. Other than 1 series at the start of the 4th quarter, Gregory lined up primarily away from Flowers with an occasional rush from the defensive right side sprinkled in. Randy Gregory tallied one tackle against Ereck Flowers. No hurries were generated. Randy Gregory lined up over Ereck Flowers a total of 21 times. Of those 21 times, 6 of the times saw Flowers assigned to block someone other than Gregory. Gregory faced Ereck Flowers 15 times for 1 tackle and gave up the first touchdown. Randy Gregory lined up at LDE a total of 39 times and DT 2 times for a total of 41 times. My high level math tells me that Flowers blocked Gregory 15 of Gregory's 62 snaps. Quote:Perhaps the single worst cutup I have watched this entire draft season is Flowers getting completely abused by Gregory. I would have thought Flowers was a non prospect if that's all I knew about him. lol what a scam you are. Crab Cakes and Football! That's what Jacksonville does!

It looked like he got his foot stuck under the field turf with every steep he took. I definitely would rather he be moved to G than for him to be stuck on an island vs some speedy pass rushers.

Where is this notion coming from that Flowers has any chance of dropping out of the first round?

Much like the Scherff cut up vs Maryland when he gets forklifted by a defender, its pretty bad. I think people (myself included) take issue with they way you seem to over exaggerate things on here. Did he get worked? Absolutely, but is that cut up the "single worst" one you've seen? If you've seen the Scherff cut up then there's no way it can be. I think you're just a little too sensational at times and it rubs people the wrong way.

Much like the Scherff cut up vs Maryland when he gets forklifted by a defender, its pretty bad.The Maryland Scherff game was 2 days after MCL surgery. He should have missed a month yet he didn't even miss a practice. It was bad but I gave him a complete pass for that game. But yes, the Flowers cutup was the worst one I saw that I couldn't justify for a reason like Scherff's. That wasn't the only play where he got beat. I gave Gregory wins on roughly half of the rushes, which is obviously a huge amount for that matchup. Especially worse considering the way Gregory was able to get his hands inside Flowers and win with power despite what you would think being the opposite.

Give the guy a pass if you want but he sure didn't show any signs of a bad leg when he's blowing guys back 4-5 yards on run plays and getting to the second level with ease. Those passing downs though must be when his MCL acted up and he gets forklifted, beat by a DT because he doesn't see the handoff by his OG, and gets beat on an outside rush where his QB gets the ball off but gets smacked.

Quote:If you believe La'el Collins can play LT then you have to have him #1 too IMO. I don't know that I think he can, but plenty of guys like Josh Norris believe he could do it well. If you had to take a guess, looking ahead 3 years from now, what do you envision for for La'el Collins if used as: 1. LT 2. RT 3 LG We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote: If you had to take a guess, looking ahead 3 years from now, what do you envision for for La'el Collins if used as:LT - passable starter probably RT and OG - Pro bowler Quote:LT - passable starter probably A couple of other questions come to mind that I would interested in your input and the input of anyone with an opinion on one or both questions: 1. Based on what you have seen with Larry Warford both with UK and with the Lions, how would you compare La'el Collins to him as an NFL Guard prospect? 2. Regarding all of the Offensive Tackles in the 2015 Draft that also have major upside potential at Guard, who are your top 3 to 5 prospects at Guard? This wouldn't include pure Guards like A.J. Cann and Laken Tomlnson.

The majority of hurries are given when a quarterback is moved off his spot or is significantly rushed in his pass. The quarterback wasn't moved off his spot by Gregory. If you rewatch it, despite it being an ugly play by Flowers, which was aided by the LG bumping into him, it was actually the 1 tech defensive tackle on the other side of the line that generates the hurry. You did cherry pick his worst play against a top 5 pass rusher though. There were also like 2 or 3 other plays where he lost by a little bit, but did enough to where he still did his job. Face it, you, and a lot of other people, just looked at the stat sheet and saw a dominant stat line by Gregory and assumed it was on Flowers. It was pointed out that they only played against each other about 24% of the snaps. Now you are trying to justify it by cherry picking his worst play which didn't even result in a hurry. If that one play made him a non prospect, then there wont be an offensive lineman drafted this year, because I can find a play like that almost every single game from all the top linemen in the draft. |
