No way he falls, but Danny Shelton would be my choice.

That's the answer. If a top ten prospect falls to late in the 1st round, then I'd consider trading up to get him. I wouldn't trade up for Gurley or any other RB in this draft. There should be some good players available at our 2nd round pick.

DB in the first seems like a waste.  I think there's a couple of better positions there that we could address.  DE, WR, LB in particular.

Given how horrendously the secondary played last year, I don't see how it could be wasteful to draft a guy like Waynes in the first round after trading down.

I imagine he would be a pretty good FS if nothing else.

FS could certainly stand to be upgraded.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

No one really that I'd trade up for. I'd like to have Gurley, but this draft is so deep at RB that I feel comfortable waiting out on the next ones. Same with WR.

I might consider if, for some inexplicable reason, Gregory is still there in the late 20s. I'd explore how much it'd cost to move up in that case. If it's not too much, I'd pull the trigger.

McCray is more experienced, Colvin will be 100% with experience, and we have House.  I'm not saying we are the Legion of Boom, but I just see bigger needs to be addressed here.  Can he play FS and do well?  I personally have no clue.

After making my selection at #3, I monitor how things are going. If things break right, and Gurley is available and San Diego is on the clock, I get on the phone with their GM. I tell them that I want that First Round Pick and I'm willing to give them next year's First to get it, but that's all. When the GM balks, I tell him "look, we're the Jags. You know we're gonna be picking top five again next year! It's a steal!"

This way, I get two First Round draft picks in one year. I just get 2016's a year earlier.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

So we don't give up our 2nd round pick, just a future first for their first?  If that happened SD's GM would get fired on the spot.

That sounds an awful lot like the rationale to justify trading away the 2010 2nd round pick for Derek Cox.

Meh. Maybe, maybe not. One could argue that a Top Ten pick next season with the possibility of adding either Ezekiel Elliot, Cardale Jones, or Joey Bosa to your roster (just to name a few) as well as your normal draft pick would be worth it.

It does, and at the time it was a trade that I was okay with. The problem with that, as you and I have discussed before, is that Cox didn't pan out to be worth a Second Round selection. If that had been the case, it would have been an amenable trade in my eyes. But alas...

They really have no incentive to do that.  There's zero guarantee that we have a top 10 pick next year.  I'd love it if it happened, but there's almost no way.

I agree that the odds are against it, but I'm an optimist by nature.

I used to have talents but I gave them up. Far too strenuous.
