The great big Blackmon thread (merged)

Yep, it's just some on this MB that haven't moved on yet.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

Quote:I wonder how much of Blackmon's substance abuse problems are directly related to having Gabbert as his QB? You kind of wonder if he was self medicating.
Blackmon isn't the one who has a disturbing obsession with Gabbert, it seems.

You might be well advised to stay away from casinos. Wink

Quote:Gabbert set this team back 4 years. Blackmon did not. That makes him the biggest bust imo

Every QB since Brunell has set us back.  It's been a steady downward ride to where we are after the defense and running games got old.  Only one of those QBs salvaged us a draft pick, though.

What does the draft pick have to do with it?  You're not suggesting Gabbert proved to be of the greatest value to the franchise, are you?

I have been one of the biggest Blackmon supporters on here.  I can finally say I am done with the man.  He won't play in NFL again.  As much as I hate saying it, I think it is true.  The thing is, I am not quite sure he wants to play again.

One of the biggest busts that has ever been drafted.  Huge disappointment.

Mark Long just reported in 1010 that the belief is Blackmon actually did reapply for reinstatement but for whatever reason (could be a missed or failed test) he did not get reinstated...

Maybe.  Either way, we'll never really know.

Did he mention what information that belief was based on?

Why didn't this make the news (aside from this report)? I hear about players applying for reinstatement before a decision is actually announced on their application.

I think Mark Long is full of it. At a minimum the moment he would apply for reinstatement you would think his agent would contact the Jags just to keep them in the loop. With the Rapoport's and Schefter's of the world they would jump all over the story as well.

This was from Friday:

Quote:Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell was asked about Blackmon on Friday. Caldwell said he has not been given an update from the league office regarding Blackmon. After the season finale, Caldwell said he was hopeful to hear something from the league by the draft.

"Our process hasn't changed," Caldwell said. "Plan to go without him, but if he emerges, he emerges and he's going to go in with those top guys and compete with those other guys. Hopefully we're able to get some news, but if not, we weren't planning on it, we're just going to go."

Caldwell said the team doesn't know if Blackmon has applied for reinstatement. The NFL Players Association told the Times-Union last week they had no update on Blackmon's status.

Just heard on 1010XL something "negative" has happened with Blackmon.

Stick a fork in him.  He's done with us.

Sad.

Hopefully, if we draft Amari Cooper, he becomes the receiver that Blackmon should have been for us.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Hmm just because I'm a glutton for punishment I'm curious what happened now?

Tweet from Andrew Gibson (@1010XLAG) - "Now the talk around the [@Jaguars] building is the opposite about Justin Blackmon. Something has happened," @APMarkLong on @1010XL.

He's applied yet has been denied reinstatement by the league.

What we don't know is why.

We do know from the looks of things, he doesn't appear to be in any rush to appeal or reapply.

Huh they reinstated domestic abuse guys so holding him at a distance doesn't make sense unless he failed another screening

Failed or failed to appear.  We may never know, but that's what's most likely to have happened.

Could be something new or it could simply be the NFL's draconian policy on dealing with players who have substance abuse issues. Tanard Jackson was placed on indefinite suspension and he missed two full seasons and I don't believe he had any issues arise during his suspension like Blackmon did with his arrest. I hope for Justin's sake this is the NFL dropping the ball yet again and not him going back to the substances that got him in all this to begin with.
