So. This thread is based on two localish hacks.

One with an unhealthy obsession bordering on manic.

The other needing something interesting to feed to Joe C, T Wig and slacker.

Granted Mark Long has a substantial lead in cred, it is still all based on third party hearsay.

Justin may very well be finished, but until I hear something official from the League or the JAGS

a large dose of Epsom salts is recommended.

And while he was signing his reinstatement papers a suspicious looking cigarette and a miniature bottle fell out of his pocket.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

After seeing his pictures, I knew he was done. If he really wanted to come back, he would have stayed in shape. Sad to see that talent gone with the wind....

I heard he got a ride to the interview with Matt Jones.

As much as id like him back sooner rather than later, his mental health is paramount. What's it worth to us if he rushes back, plays a good year if were lucky then relapses again. I think I takes a bigger person to know that they aren't ready to return rather than rushing back and just failing again.

Quote:He's applied yet has been denied reinstatement by the league.

What we don't know is why.

We do know from the looks of things, he doesn't appear to be in any rush to appeal or reapply.
According to the NFL drug policy he wouldn't be eligible for reinstatement right now anyway because of his July arrest.

He asked the Commish if the reinstatement meeting could be held in Colorado

He has reapplied and was denied.  This was reported on the radio today.

I believe May 20th is the date on which he becomes eligible for reinstatement (assuming no further infractions).

The point is he isn't even eligible to apply right now so it isn't surprising that he was denied.

The rules state you aren't eligible for reinstatement until you go 12 months without a drug infraction and you can't apply until 60 days before your eligibility date.

His arrest was in July so the May date sounds like the earliest he can legally apply according to the 60 day rule.

I thought it was 6 months without an infraction to be eligible, not a year.  He was arrested on July 23 and pleaded no contest to one count of possession on Nov. 20, which will be reduced to disorderly conduct if he stays out of trouble for 6 months.  I assumed the NFL would start the time-clock on the day the possession charge was resolved  (hence the May 20 date).  If so and if the one year period is correct, he's not even eligible until week 12.  So much for this year.

Why oh why couldn't he just stink as a player like nearly all the rest of Gene Smiths draft picks, especially from the early rounds.

Can you provide a link? All I've seen is the 1010XL tweets in regards to Mark Long's comments.

Quote:Every QB since Brunell has set us back. It's been a steady downward ride to where we are after the defense and running games got old. Only one of those QBs salvaged us a draft pick, though.

I think it was the coaching staff that set us back in '03...

We very well could have won it all if DelRio had allowed Garrard to continue to start following Leftwich's injury.

I wanna say we'd gone like 4-1 heading into the playoffs with Dave at the helm when the decision was made to bring back Byron.

I'm thinking Bledsoe/Brady

Actually, the new policy is just 12 months from receiving the banishment notice letter. The old policy must have had the 12 month incident free provision.
