Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone

#1

Horrible news for the Packers. They already used their DTR tag on Randall Cobb, so he will have to stay on the active roster in case they make the playoffs. A three-way tie with the Bears and Lions makes me worry they can't do it with Seneca Wallace. Scott Tolzein is being elevated from the practice squad. Collarbones need eight weeks to heal and that is how many games are left, so the timing could not be much worse. I knew it had to be a fracture when Mike Tirico announced he was ruled out because it is the left one. The only good thing is he will not need surgery.

Of course, the million dollar question now is, "How will the Packers survive without #12?" They need to apply for a discount double check.

Its a hairline fracture from what I read and could be back in three weeks.

Suck it up Rodgers, Rach and I need you.

Wait just a dog gone minute, was that a joke, Jay Dubaya? :woot:

When Tom Brady went down for the season, The Patriots went 11-5 with Matt Cassel.

There are very few teams that can lose that kind of talent at Quarterback and still produce. I think GB has a lot of talent, and it will be interesting to see if coach McCarthy can rally the team to be competetive in other ways enough to offset the loss of such a huge talent. To start with they have Eddie Lacy, and focusing on running the ball, and playing defense can take a lot of pressure off of the QB position. I believe they can still be very competetive. We will see what the GB team has in them. I think they will do better than expected.

He does not know that for sure yet. I know he is a tough guy and would have gone back into the game if he could, so if he is cleared to play before Thanksgiving, he iwll.

Thanks for clearing that up?

Back in 3 weeks seems a little optimistic to me.

I guess that is why they make the big bucks. Smile

Yes, I did tell a joke.

The Patriots still had Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski at tight end. Jermichael Finley is probably not coming back this season. Not having Randall Cobb also hurts. Every opponent knows Eddie Lacy will get the ball and do whatever they can to stop the run.

Oh yeah I do. I already lost Doug Martin and Reggie Wayne. Plus MJD's terrible production. Yet somehow, I'm still in first place in my division. Thank you Zac Stacy, Josh Gordon and the Bengals D

It looks good on you, maybe you should do it more often. Smile

Lacy from all appearances looks like a special player, If the Packers can rally the troops and stay competitive (make the playoffs) until Rogers makes it back, it very well could elevate them to another level as a team.

I wouldn't count them out. I look forward to watching how the team responds to the adversity of losing their best player. I have a hunch they will do better than most would suspect. We will see.

I know Green Bay can still make a run for the playoffs, but without knowing how long #12 will be out I am worried it will be much harder to do that in a very tough division. I  can't wait for Randall Cobb to get off IR (they said eight weeks before he can practice IIRC). Hopefully by then Clay Matthews will be back too.

Eddie Lacy is the favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. That is saying a lot about someone who was supposed to be the backup to DuJuan Harris.

Yeah, but what about his collarbone?   :teehee:

What sucks is kissing it won't help anything; only time heals it. There are some injuries that can't be treated and this is one of them.
