2016 Presidential Candidates

Quote:Wow people still think invading Iraq was justifiable?

Yes lets keep throwing away trillions invading countries for oil and cut education. Priorities.

Cutting the bureaucracy that is the Dept. of Education is not the same as cutting education.

But I'd put the Dept. of Energy first on the list to be eliminated. It was created during the Carter administration with one objective, to make the US energy independent. After failure for over 35 years, it's time to admit that it didn't work.

Rick Perry is in. Another one enters a becoming overcrowded, lets knock each other off, the race.

Should be fun when debates begin. And Jon Stewart is retiring with all this comedy gold on the horizon

Jeb in as well...announcement coming June 15

You know it's kind of sad that we now have announcements as to when they're going to announce they're going to run.  WHY NOT JUST ANNOUNCE IT NOW?  GEEZ.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

It's because of the campaign finance laws. As long as they don't announce, they can pull all the money they want.

Once they announce, the money has to go to the super pacs.

It's all a grift now.

Updated the list reflecting the two new candidates.  Once Jeb Bush makes it "official" I'll add him to the list as well.

First of all, we have never invaded a country for oil.

Second of all, please explain or tell us what exactly it is the Department of Education does and what it has accomplished?  What significant changes have been made since it's creation?  In other words, what are we paying for?

Do you honestly believe had Iraq no oil we would be so interested in its fate?

If we wanted oil we'd have invaded Venezuela.

Yes I do.  The invasion of Iraq had very little to do with oil other than stabilizing the region.  If it was about the oil, then why did we not seize and/or take over oil operations?

The interest in this particular country has nothing to do with oil.  Aside from being ruled by a brutal dictator, it is also in a very strategic location.  How close is the country to Israel not to mention bordering Turkey?  These are two very important allies in the region.  The intelligence and history showed that the brutal dictator running the country had and used chemicals and/or weapons of mass destruction.

Next take a look at the proximity to Iran.  Should nuclear weapons (that are currently being developed in Iran) fall into the brutal dictators hands, what would happen to the region?  What would that do not only to our economy, but the world economy?  Another ally in the region is Saudi Arabia.

Now take a look at a map and look at what is happening today.  Why does Putin want to conquer Ukraine?  What exactly is going on in Syria, Egypt and Libya?

Rest assured, our involvement in the area is not about oil.

Yeah they should just give up and keep relying on the middle east for oil for the rest of time. Another sound idea.

Because if government doesn't do it then it just won't get done!

One really has nothing to do with the other.

The market determines our energy policy.  Where we get it from is determined by where it costs the least to obtain it.  At the end of the day, the cheapest energy isn't determined by some bloated government bureaucracy that only serves itself just as the quality of education isn't going to be diminished one iota if there wasn't a federal bureaucracy more interested in protecting unions than educating children.

Grown men and their fantasies.

The invasion of Iraq was all about oil.

Who proposed raising interest rates on student loans? The majority of "children" wont make it to college. Sure some may not fit academically, but most cant afford it. But yeah, those durn Unions caused it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didnt we hear that this "war" ( since it wasnt declared...so some say invasion ) would be funded by the oil in Iraq? I'm sure I heard one of our "leaders" mention that. Maybe not, because it didnt so they just pulled out the Visa.

Seizing Iraqi oil fields to pay back the US is what should have been done. The fact that it wasn't proves that the war wasn't about oil.

I didnt imply it was about oil, my point was that our govt said that their reserves would fund the war invasion. But to think oil and the strategic location ( shipping lanes ) had zero to do with it is imho naive.

Getting Sadaam ( the guy we supported, sent money, weapons, etc to previously ) was the main reason? After we all heard " We got him", things started to slow down a bit. Mission Accomplished I believe was the term

I don't think the government ever actually said that. It was just wishful thinking by some media people.

There were a lot of stated reasons to take out Iraq. I believe finally getting rid of the thorn in our side was the biggest reason.
