Ace Sanders cutting day is approaching

I think we keep one of the two out of walters and Ace. Our depth at TE may help us keep one less WR this year i see us maybe keeping 5 TE which is another reason for no Fullback.

A-Rob

Lee

Greene

Hurns

Benn

Maybe Ace or Walters

You must have never personally experienced practice before.

Being in shape, hustle, taking a leadership role, being on top of you game.

There are tons of things a player can do that can impress a coach. You don't have be in pads to demonstrate that you are going to give 110%.

Coaches find exemplary effort impressive.

As I attempted to imply - he's simply showing the effort this staff keeps preaching about.

And it's not just Gus. He said the staff as a whole has taken notice.

It doesn't change the reality that Ace has a tough row to hoe. It just means he seems committed to fighting for a spot.

Really - I only posted it because I found it funny that this thread was started with obvious vitriol toward a fourth rounder - and now that player was ironically singled out by the HC for his 'hustle.'

all i'm saying is that they haven't even practiced yet.

So he may look like he's in good shape and is working hard in the weight-room.

Whooptee-doo.  I mean don't get me wrong, I'm glad that we're hearing that about him...  I just want to see them give him praise for some actual on-field performance for a change (and that may happen soon).

They are praising him based on what they have been able to see so far. There is nothing wrong with that. The media asked about him and they responded. No one is making this out to be more than it is.

Wouldn't be unlike everyone else here.

I'm just kidding. But that beats me.

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

I see this as a coach, where some players see that they are losing favor with me or that they don't get much playing time and so they pick up their game, they show up on time and that gets noticed.. it's not nothing if Ace showed up even for a little practice, work out. This is the big leagues, you can't slack off even when it doesn't matter

The first part of the battle is showing up and doing so with the right attitude.  There have been some on-field activities for the veterans that are not technically practices, but there's enough going on there for him to get some sort of notice from the coaching staff.  I don't see why this is a bad thing, but apparently it really bothers some folks who have him cut already.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Bradley welcomed Sanders with a huge hug Sunday morning "like I was his son or something," Sanders said. "It always feels good to know that people love you."

--------------------------------------------------------

What do you expect Head Coach Gus Bradley to say or do about it now that Ace under performed when he did return from his suspension last season?  Dont get me wrong by creating this thread I am not rooting for Ace to be cut but rather just expect it mainly due to his lack of skills compared to the younger (drama free) WRs competing for the same slot.

Third-year Jaguars receiver/punt returner Ace Sanders will need a great training camp to earn a roster spot, but coach Gus Bradley liked what he saw from No. 18 last week, the first time veterans were allowed to do on-field work with coaches.

“That was the best I’ve seen Ace,” Bradley said. “The consistency of every rep really showed up. He’s really stacked up some good days. We’ve really taken notice of him as a staff.” - The Florida Times-Union

-------------------------

Ace must realize he has to work hard to get a spot on the team, so for his sake hopefully he proves us all wrong.

Ace is pretty much the #1 starter eh?

Where did him being noticed in a positive way bother anyone?

I think we would all hope he becomes the next Jerry Rice. We will see, but I think he's got an uphill battle to make the roster.

As opposed to getting a spot on the team simply because of draft position?

Has anyone even thought that just maybe a young veteran coming into his third season after mainly being a special teams guy might be developing nicely?

Maybe, especially if he starts showing it on the field.

If I was betting money on it no, I would put my money on him not making the team... not trying to hate thats just how i see it at this point.

I gotta admit that I did not see him being the star of camp. Granted this isn't even preseason yet but still good on him for stepping up. I'm curious what happens.

Quote:Ace Sanders has been 'the talk of OTAs

Ace Sanders | JAC

(June 7, 2015 10:42 AM EDT)

ESPN Jaguars reporter Mike DiRocco said Ace Sanders has been "the talk of OTAs."

DiRocco said Sanders is "catching everything in sight." This is the second positive report we've heard on Sanders in the last week. Behind Allen Robinson, Marqise Lee, Allen Hurns, and possibly Rashad Greene, Sanders isn't guaranteed a roster spot. The 23-year-old was a non-factor last season, catching just 6-of-8 targets for 55 yards. He's competing for the slot receiver job.

Ace Sanders at this point is making the team, looks like Benn & Doss could be the odd men out.
