Dear Coach Bradley ...

Dear Lord, please forbid Coach Bradley from showing any signs of positive emotion after a good play. For he does not know that we must all be as miserable as possible unless we are consistently winning. For this, I beg you in the name of miserable Jaguars fans everywhere. Amen. There, I put in a word with the big man for all you Nancys out there. Quote:Dear Lord, please forbid Coach Bradley from showing any signs of positive emotion after a good play. Quote:Gus is saying thanks for your support: Was that right after they traded Gabbert for a 6th rd pick, because that's what i imagine it was like in there?
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
Obligatory cry baby post of the week.

Quote:This is hilarious. Bradley in a nutshell. "We're getting our butts kicked, but this is awesome being here, right?" You realize this is from the Thursday night game against the tacks right? A game in which we won BTW. But don't let that get in the way of the agenda being pushed.
"Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he's a mile away and barefoot."
Whether Bradley's longterm plan turns out to be sound or not - I really can't hate on his whole "Mr.Positive" routine. It's painful at times to hear the positivity rhetoric when we're losing so often, but I feel like he's got an endgame plan beyond this stage of trying to keep chins held high through the slow growth and struggle.
We'd all love an immediate winning record - but Caldwell has been very transparent when emphasizing his long-term draft-based rebuild intentions. Bradley knew he was in for a tough couple of seasons early on. We've all seen his "do your job" speech from his Seattle days and we know he can be that guy as well -- but I think he's just approaching this giant draft-based rebuild and youth infusion with an intentionally hyper-positive message for his team. It's intention is to urge young ascending players and a handful of vets to "buy in" even though ugly losses were knowingly imminent in the first few years of the process. It makes sense to me - despite the frustration. I imagine his demeanor will stiffen more and more when the roster is deeper and more mature and he can justify demanding more from his individual players and position groups. I hope to God I'm right....

There's a time to be a player's coach, and a time to be a task master. I think it was Ghandi that said, for every season-turn, turn, turn... Your hope seems to be how I would manage. When I had subordinates that were new and didn't have the skills needed yet, I was positive with them. As they got better at thier jobs, I'd demand more of them. I think we all hope that Gus is that type of leader. This year is a hot seat year. But I'm still positive we have players and better coaching around the offense that will make us look like a legit NFL team. Last year was bad on offense and it made us look horrible... But there's no reason right now to worry about it. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

This is easily the best Jags team that Gus has had in his 3 short years here, at least on paper. They should be able to do better then the last 2, although I know a lot will depend on Bortles.
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

Dear Flapeds,
I read your letter this morning before the start of OTAs to our coaches and players. It was motivating. Such passion drives our culture of competition. I told the guys this morning, "COMPETE! COMPETE! COMPETE!" With competition comes winning, and we're getting close. There is so much positivity here in OTAs I can smell the winning! Keep showing up, we'll keep competing every Sunday. Sincerely, Coach B We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Quote:Dear Flapeds, very inspirational -- Thanks Gus.

Gus was the perfect coach for this type of total teardown / rebuild. He has kept a positive message while gradually raising expectations. His idea of competing and continuing to get better has held true for the most part - the youth movement on offense last year was definitely a setback but should pay dividends going forward.
What we have now is a team with more talent and fewer holes. I think this team will have success because they aren't taking any shortcuts. The maturity level continues. There were stretches last year where you could see it coming together. The challenge now is to carry it through full games and multiple weeks. Quote:Don't listen to the losers who say winning don't matter. Winning is why they play the game. If a team wants a huge fanbase and mass appeal it has to win on a consistent basis. No one says winning "don't matter". Winning is why they play the game. But there are fans who understand that you won't build a championship roster with a couple of quick fixes to get a few more wins in the short term.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.
