Jagswilldestroyyou,

I served in the military and as a PSD post military.

11thDR.

You are right, there is plenty of evidence contrary to what I wrote. I was only relating my experience and what I witnessed. Everyone has their own beliefs and worldview based on their life.

That's why I always urge people to find out for themselves. There is always at least two side to every issue.

Oface,

You called me Tom Clancy. You ve seen my posts, I'm not a writer in any sense of the word, but thanks any way.

This type of interrogation falls under the don't ask, don't tell category.

It's got to be super clandestine. The schmucks who posted th pics at Abu Ghraib opened a hole can of worms. That " interrogation" helped no one.

As the debate goes on, my 2 cents is...it may work sometimes , yet may not in others. What are truths. What are lies?

But in the end, it won't end. Just ship perpetrators to Egypt. Them dudes have some nasty methods. Then we can do the Pontious Pilate routine and wash our hands from it all.

Enhanced interrogation. Lol. Cute name. Like Patriot Act.

If you think enhanced interrogation is torture so be it. I won't argue that point with anyone.

I've seen enhanced interrogation and the results of torture in person. There is a difference.

Enhanced interrogation produces actionable intelligence. You want me to prove it?

Don't agree or believe me? How about this, I could care less if you or anyone else believes it.

Think about this, if it did not produce results why would the US continue to use it? Do you think the folks using enhanced interrogation are just sick people that enjoy it.

Oh yeah it is still going on today.

If you would spend a little time on google with keep an open mind you would find all of the evidence. I won't do your leg work for you look for yourself.

Better yet join the military and go see for yourself.

Isn't it amazing that people that are so against the techniques in use today have never "been there"?  They don't have a clue.

Ever had waterboarding done to you before? Try it and get back to me. You (or I for that matter) couldn't last 30 minutes.

And we'd tell our torturer whatever we thought they wanted to hear, whether it was true or not.

And after the torturer checks the sources and found out you gave them false information you're going to be in for a looooong night.

If the torturer already has reliable sources, what are they torturing me for?

Yes, it's absolutely torture.  But guess what -- that does not mean it works.  The CIA has said that it doesn't work, so you'll excuse me if I take their word for it over the word of some people on a message board who are assuming it works because Hey it's really difficult to stand pain.

You know what's easy?  Making up information.  Good luck proving that I don't have a guy in Maine who's recruiting children for my own version of the Harlem Globetrotters.  His name?  Paul Johnson.

So we continue to be unethical to get even more false information?   Seriously.  That makes about as much sense as cutting off your nose to spite your face.  "YOU GAVE US FALSE INFORMATION?  WELL I BET YOU WILL TOTALLY GIVE US GOOD INFORMATION NEXT TIME!  AND CERTAINLY NOT MORE FALSE INFORMATION THAT WILL WASTE TIME AND RESOURCES."

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I may be in the minority here but I believe if the enemy has information that could save the life of even one U.S. solder or citizen then it is open season, use whatever methods you can possibly think of to obtain this information. Makes these [BAD WORD REMOVED] fear us, because they clearly do not. If these methods include waterboarding, sleep deprivation, beatings, chopping off fingers, skinning people alive, shock therapy, I don't care, do it.

I understand that a basic soldier's role in war is to do as he is commanded and I wouldn't be for torturing anyone in that position, but if dealing with prisoners who had something to do with 9/11 or may know where Osama Bin Laden was hiding, do whatever it takes, I really have zero sympathy for these people and wish the worst for them.

You say, "...if the enemy has information that could save the life of even one U.S. solder or citizen then it is open season..."

So why restrict your use of this tool to alleged terrorists?   What about other situations?    If torturing someone saves the life of even one citizen, therefore we should do it, why not use this useful tool that saves lives in other situations?

So if we should  be able to torture people in the war on terror, what about the war on drugs?   Should we be able to torture people in the war on drugs, too?  If torturing an alleged drug dealer would lead us to his supplier, and that would save lives, should we be allowed to do that?   It would save a lot of lives, right?

And by the way, who decides who should be  tortured?   Do we allow the CIA to decide this?   They can torture whoever they want?   What about if someone tells the CIA that his neighbor is a terrorist, should the CIA be  able to pick up the neighbor and torture them?  What if someone tells the CIA that you are a terrorist?   Should you have any rights at all?   Or should the CIA be allowed to pick you up and  send you to some overseas facility to be  tortured?

So we allow the CIA to pick up people and torture them.   I'm sure some of you have read this before:

Quote:First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

The point is, if you start giving up human rights, even if it's someone else's human rights, eventually you will give up your own human rights.

Boy, you guys sure do fight hard for the rights of people who hate America. It's odd that you so often are FOR taking away the enumerated rights of actual citizens. And then the Left wonders why their patriotism is sometimes called into question...
