Vikings and primetime games

#1

Seems like they are on primetime every week. Painful, just painful. NFL needs to implement flex scheduling for every network and every night.

That's all I got.

Every team gets a Thursday Night game.

But for Sunday Night/Monday Night they need to have more flex.  CBS and FOX are able to protect certain games, but I think that they should have a limited number of games to protect each season, rather than each week.  I think 8 protections would be appropriate.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

The NFL bought high on Peterson and the Vikings this season.

They certainly missed out on the Jags.

There is no flex scheduling on Monday nights either.

Part of the flex scheduling deal is 1:00 games on CBS and Fox can be moved to 4:00 or later, depending on who shows the doubleheader. The NFL did this for Week 11 (the first week flex scheduling is allowed). So a network can protect the game itself, but still benefit from flex scheduling by delaying kickoff three hours.

I stand corrected. That was actually a pretty entertaining game to watch.

I think it was entertaining because the Redskins are not good either. If it was Minnesota at Seattle, I would not even watch the first quarter.

Maybe we can get a Sunday Night game on Comedy Central?

While the Colts have a much better record than the Vikings,   they are going to be in a prime time game for the 4th time in recent weeks when they travel to Tennessee for next Thursday Night's game.    I rather the NFL spread out prime time appearances more than they seem to be doing this year.    The Colts are an entertaining team to watch but this many prime time appearances in a relatively short period is overkill.

No team would agree with you more than the Miami Dolphins right now. The timing could not be worse for them to have back to back prime time games (Thursday last week, Monday next week).

Your right in that the less publicity the Dolphins get now,   the better for them.   That organization is dealing with yet another P.R. nightmare.

In general though,  I'm comfortable with a team getting 2 straight prime time games.   When it becomes 3 or more prime time regular season games within a 5 game period,   that's when it clearly goes over the line for me as an NFL fan.    The saturation point with the Colts is way over the limit in this time frame.

I'll agree my biggest gripe is that the same teams seem to have prime time games in bunches. I can understand the Vikings went to the playoffs last year and are deserving of prime time action but it seems they're on every other week.

No pain, no gain.

And the Vikings barely made the playoffs. They needed help to get there.

What I don't like is the matchups. I fully expected a blowout when I heard a Thursday night game will be the 49ers and Rams.

Last season,  the Rams went 1-0-1 against the 49ers.

While I give you credit for your prediction of the 49ers blowing out the Rams this season,   at the time of the game,   the 49ers were 1-2.    Plus the game was in St. Louis.    This looked like a good matchup from my perspective entering the game.    As it turned out,   the Rams Offensive Line and overall blockers were overwhelmed in that game.

I thought the 49ers won in St. Louis last year.

The Rams beat the 49ers 16-13 in OT at the Edward Jones Dome on December 2, 2012.

Ask rollerjag for help on that issue.

Who is/was Edward Jones?

The problem might be computer related for me.   When I get back home later,   I'm going to reboot the system.    If the problem remains,  I'm going to try replying on another computer.    If necessary,  I will ask for help.   Thanks for the suggestion.

Edward Jones is the name of a financial advisory company based out of St. Louis.    The company was named after Edward Jones Sr.,  who I believe was the founder of the company.

What is it with financial companies and NFL stadiums? Edward Jones, Lincoln Financial, Everbank, Bank of America, M&T Bank. And Sun Life is an insurance company.
