FSU QB and Jacksonville native De'Andre Johnson suspended, allegedly over punching woman

Quote:All I was doing was pointing out that the people saying "NEVER hit a woman" were ignorant because there are instances where it may be appropriate and/or necessary. You responded to that and I simply restated that point. Now you apparently agree that the word "NEVER" is silly to use.
And for you to deliver that message without saying that instance arises so very frequently isn't responsible. Not to mention you post it in a thread, wait threads, where in no way, shape, or form did the male need to slobber knock the female. That is what I pointed out. This isn't hard.

It happens, though. The fact that it happens mean the word "never" should not be used.

I didn't post in the thread until the ridiculous notion that it's "never" okay to hit a woman was repeatedly trumpeted.

This isn't hard.

According to the CDC, one in seven men age 18+ in the U.S. has been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in his lifetime.

There are 138,000,000 males. 1/7th of that is 19,714,285 cases of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in a man's lifetime. If we take your 5% of times that require physical violence to avoid death/serious injury, that comes to 985,714 cases.

While in the grand scheme of things, 985,714 cases might not be a lot, it's still foolish to say "it is NEVER" okay to hit a woman.

And do you feel this was one of those instances???    Do you feel he was sufficiently threatened by that girl to justify the level of force he used?

This is funny. Hail starts this crap by his 'never hitting a woman crowd' remark and he whines to me about 'being combative' in other threads.

And that will be my only contribution to this already hijacked thread.

I just reread the thread and I must have missed the repeated comments that it is NEVER ok to hit a woman that have you so vehemently defending violence against women.  Can you please point them out?

No, I do not feel like he need to use physical violence to avoid death or serious injury. My posts in here are aimed at the people who continue to trumpet the "NEVER hit a woman" nonsense as if no female is ever capable of causing serious injury.

Well, I don't see where people repeatedly "trumpeted" that line, so it sure comes across as if you are defending hitting a woman in this situation.   If that was not your intent then my previous comment would not be directed at you.

According to the CDC, one in seven men age 18+ in the U.S. is soft and reported being the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in his lifetime.

Your copy and paste button works.

Unless my wife used a weapon, there is no way she could ever put severe physical violence on me.

People are pulling this stuff out of thin air now trying to justify what he did was right?  What happened in this case and "severe physical violence" are not even close.  If what happened to him was severe physical violence, than I can see why the numbers are so high.

Clearly, you're not married to Ronda Rousey.

That statistic could be somewhat misleading as all conversation thus far seems to presume "intimate partner" to be a female.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Once again I never said never should not be used. Simpy to clarify that the times called for a man to defend himself against a women is very minimal. It's not responsible at all. And again, in a post where a man blasted a women in the face makes it appear even worse. You don't seem to get it.

I also appreciate the imitation. Sincerest form of flattery.

There's been a few posts of men hitting women on here over the years. None of them called for a man to defend himself from a woman. And he spouts the same jargon every time.

Don't take my 5% as gospel, could be more, I'd venture to guess less though.

He is, just in his own unique way. He has defended things like this in the past. The tune has changed a bit.

I feel like burning some beds after reading through this thread.

Some people like to argue and debate apparently. I'm a woman and I wouldn't have even hit her back, I would have gotten the bouncer, or whatever, but I don't like to hit anyone, so......

A lot of the positions and language used in this thread sound exactly the same as those in a lot of shooting cases. I find that interesting.
