Iran Nuclear Deal

Quote:Being hit with a nuclear weapon is hardly ideal for anyone, but to suggest that it would cripple Israel seems like a stretch to me. They'd have ten more nukes stamped "From Israel with Love" on their way to Tehran in minutes. The Iranian government is not stupid. They can posture against Israel all they want, but they will not start a war that they have no chance at all of winning.

If Iran fires an ICBM at us, it would be shot down. That's really all there is to it. Iran might be able to build a long-range delivery platform--might--but making it stealthy enough to slip past the US' missile defenses is all but impossible for a country that still relies on F-14A-model Tomcats and reverse-engineered F-5's as its front line of defense. If Iran did fire at us, we would blast the government to pieces with conventional weapons, and as long as we didn't go nuclear, I doubt that Russia or China would be willing to engage on Iran's behalf. It's pretty hard to justify defending someone because they were dumb enough to fire a nuke at the biggest military powerhouse in the world.

Take a look at the size of Israel.  Then research what actual nuclear fallout entails.  I would argue that one warhead, even if it's rudimentary is detonated over/in Israel, the results would be catastrophic.

Quote:In your opinion. For someone trying to please their deity for instance, well, that might not be so.
Hey, if Iran wants to turn itself into a parking lot, there's one fewer hostile nation out there.

Not nearly as catastrophic as it would be for Iran. In fact, now that you've introduced the question of fallout, I wonder if Iran would even use a nuclear weapon against Israel. Is it worth risking turning Jerusalem into a fallout-laden ghost town to take a shot at Israel?

This is just my opinion, but I don't think that those that would use a nuke willingly (radical governments or extremists) even think about the implications of fallout.  I believe that their main objective(s) would be to kill as many Israelis as well as "send a message" to the world.  The kind of people that we are dealing with are not exactly known for any kind of "precision", rather they tend to be pretty reckless.

Do you believe anything the right says?

From what I've seen, the left circles the wagons no matter how horrible the event. Keep a separate E-mail account against government regulations ... no problem. Sell US policy to foreign governments for donations ... no problem. Kill someone by driving drunk into the water and then just leaving her there to die ... no problem. Slaughter babies to sell the organs ... no problem.

As long as the right opposes it, it's OK.

Quote:Hmmm, yes. What DOES Ezra Klein's Vox have in common with the non-proliferation community and the IAEA? Could it be a typical leftist blame American bias?

Your paranoia and persecution complex knows no bounds it seems. What are you even babbling on about? The non-proliferation community and IAEA is what some liberal conspiracy make you get gay married and provide healthcare for unprivileged Muslim Mexicans?

As long as you categorize all those you consider to be liberal as being of one mind, it's hard to take you seriously.

As for your claim about slaughtering babies to sell organs, you might want to fact check that.

Well crap there's always that wacko that just ruins it! Id say however to ancorhmans point about similarities that is the theocracy crowd not necessarily the conservative crowd. That article is trying to associate all "duck dynasty republicans" as he called it to that one pastor in his basement. My guess is his church is small and insignificant.

OK, selling organs of unborn children after they are killed. And killing them in a manner that maximizes the preservation of the organs rather than the safety of the mother. And using taxpayer dollars to support this practice.

Are YOU OK with that?

I don't think advocating his religious text as curriculum is the same as the guy calling for Old Testament execution of homosexuals.

Quote:I honestly doubt you voted for Obama in 2008...  How could you vote for him after the whole Rev. Wright thing?  If you voted for Obama after that, then you were an uniformed voter.  No offense, of course.

On top of that, Obama ran on socializing Healthcare, which was a huge topic in 2008.  He took single payer off the table and conceded to a much more conservative health care reform policy.

You probably were not paying any attention to the campaign of 2008.  I appreciate that you admit it.

So the question is this:  What made you vote for Obama in the first place???
I honest to God did vote for him in '08. I didn't have a TV back then and worked a lot so was not 100% informed of his history and such. Also, I 200% did not want Sarah Palin in the White House with John McCain seemingly thisclose to a heart attack, so it was voting for the lesser of two evils. I do remember that he was different from what we'd had in office for the past 8 years and that to me was a positive.

I liked his message of Yes We Can and he was a very charismatic speaker and I was duped.

I can say that I have learned a great deal from my mistake of not being an informed voter and will not make the mistake again. Sadly, it almost doesn't mean anything these days as all politicians are corrupt and I don't trust ANY of them.

I can admit to and learn from my mistakes.

Given the abortions will occur regardless of the method, and the body tissue goes to medical research, and the costs are reimbursed, then...yes, I am ok with that.

I tell you, I don't know what I was thinking. Straight up. I know I had my ideas at the time but for the life of me I can't remember what they were. I was also going through an extremely stressful time in my life and was not working on all cylinders as they say, so there were many factors. But I really did think he'd change things for the better. My idea of better at that time in my life was, "anywhere but here" and most likely projected that on to him.

I was mentally unstable, and that's not a joke. I left this message board about a year prior due to an extreme event in my life I've discussed here since my return, and I remained pretty compromised regarding a lot of things for several years. So voting for President was probably not a wise choice looking back.

This is the first time I've actually admitted this in this context and it's pretty surreal, but it's the truth.

Yep. Those left wing wagons are in a very tight circle.
