The Great, Big Joeckel Thread (merged threads)

Quote:Everyone in the NFL played college ball and most played the same position that they did in the NFL.No, it isn't a special circumstance for Joeckel. All I am saying is it isn't as if he had no training or experience in the position at all prior to coming here. Playing 3 years at a position in college ball and one year in the NFL is different from just one year in the NFL. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

I would be surprised if more than 4 out of the 32 teams rated Luke Joeckel as a non top 5 pick once their final 2013 Draft boards were set. As we saw with Aaron Curry four drafts prior, the draft is an inexact science.

Quote:https://twitter.com/mike_e_kaye/status/6...3019655168Wasn't even much of an effort by Davis to get around him... Quote:Good lord....Please god let it be that Davis had just told Joeckel that he has TB.

I want to defend him, but damn I'd like to think that even I could have grabbed a jersey or SOMETHING. And I'm about Lee's size. That was just horrible

Hey, at least he reacted, the rest of the o line didn't even move!! (Banging head on desk)
Not defending Joeckel, but seriously, unless you know the context of video clips like the one provided above, it's tough to know what happened there. Those line drills aren't about engaging as much as they are about working on technique.
Joeckel has a challenge ahead of him. If he turns out to be the weakest link on that rebuilt line, I'm sure we'll see serious competition for the LT job next year. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Hard to read his progress bc he also does this:

One thing that comes to mind based on watching that clip a few times. It seems obvious that it was a drill. What is the purpose of the drill? Could it be improving the speed of a defender? People act like he was supposed to actually block the defender, but look at it again. The offensive line doesn't move, and the "target" is a practice dummy set up for an outside pass rusher. The only one really going "full speed" is the defender.
There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't. Quote:Hard to read his progress bc he also does this:He has always been a pretty decent run blocker. Quote:Hard to read his progress bc he also does this: I saw him play really well against Odrick last year. I'm not completely writing him off. There is still hope.

O line vs D line, probably has been happening since the beginning of time. Basically one on ones. Quote:One thing that comes to mind based on watching that clip a few times.
