Quote:It is called a pass rush drill. O line vs D line, probably has been happening since the beginning of time. That's what I'm saying. It's not really O line vs D line, it appears to me that it's specifically focusing on the outside pass rusher's speed. It has nothing to do with blocking at all. Quote:When it is the same "advantage" that most every other NFL player, including the ones he is competing against, had coming out of college, it becomes a moot point.I'm not saying he had an advantage over other LTs. All I am saying is he was not entirely foreign to the position when he entered the league. In fact, he was a 3 year starter at Texas A & M. That said, I'm sure there have been better performing NFL LTs that did not have the benefit of three years starting experience. Jason Peters didn't play T at all in college. He was a college TE and he has performed better at LT than Joeckel. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:https://vine.co/v/edOpdMIzYjF Now that is clearly a bit better example, but there is also this. I'll bet that there are instances where the defender is stopped. Clearly these little clips posted on twitter are done so with an agenda. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't. Quote:That's what I'm saying. It has everything to do with blocking. Think about what you are saying. Why would they just let Davis go full speed and risk injury to LJ? Watch the second clip, it has nothing to do with speed rush. Ryan Davis is eating LJ's lunch. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Now that is clearly a bit better example, but there is also this. If Joeckel has been performing well-both in games and this practice-to what purpose would posting these videos serve? Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Clearly these little clips posted on twitter are done so with an agenda. they were posted within minutes of each other. same drill. your theory about it being a drill just for the defender is debunked. Quote:Hey, at least he reacted, the rest of the o line didn't even move!! (Banging head on desk) Yup... difficult to tell without having the entire context. Looks like it was a drill where everyone made a first step then stopped. All but the defensive player. Looks like Joeckel stepped, stopped, then restarted when the defender kept going. We just don't know what the purpose of the drill was. Didn't see much effort from anyone on the play, even Davis. He wasn't full speed, either. Did a whistle blow and he play through it? Was it a ball swat drill? Since they had a dummy instead of a live QB, it seems like the expectation is to have the defender get home.

There's got to be something we're missing in those vines... maybe the drill is focused on the d, and Luke is going half speed based in the goal of the drill?
There's no way he's trying in these drills... We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Hard to read his progress bc he also does this: In fairness that is against Andre Branch who is also bad. Quote:Yup... difficult to tell without having the entire context. you cant be this stupid
Jesus, it is a pass rush drill.
Anyone who has been in a real football practice has seen this drill. What does the other o lineman have anything to do with it? LJ is getting manhandled. Quote:Jesus, it is a pass rush drill.Agreed. It is one thing to say that these two plays have been taken out of context. But based upon what has been posted to the boards, based upon media reports and the various video clips, Davis has been abusing LJ all camp. This from FBTs first report...this regarding Branch Quote:(emphasis added) Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:Maybe Davis is the second coming of Reggie White? What, is he going to go to Green Bay too because God told him to do so ?
I don't know if I would say he is garbage. but in hindsight, I don't think letting go of Monroe was a good move.

Hey at least it's better than last years o-line. Here's the group photo from last season.

I can remember running half/three quarter drills where we (linemen) where simply stepping through our assignment - no hands. Just footwoork. The DL would step through their techniques and finish at the dummy. Mental reps vs opponents rather than all bags practice. Ripping and swimming dummies is different than practicing those moves on people who come off the ball when it's snapped. It's basically practicing with real people without killing each other like it's a real game at full speed.

Man, I have so much hope that Joeckel will get it together. He definitely has faced adversity since being drafted, but I do expect him to improve this upcoming season and there is no excuse for showing no improvement. Unfortunately, he needs to work out the kinks now before week 1. The first 7 games of the season are going to be tough. We play Carolina, Miami, new england, Houston, Buffalo, and Tampa bay. All have strong defensive lines. If Joeckel struggles, our offense will struggle significantly. Optimistic jaguars fan holding out hope here.
