Why not move Parnell over to LT?

I think Luke would be a heck of a RT because he is good in the run game.

Luke was not good at RT his rookie year
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

From wiko...

On April 26, 2012, he was re-signed to a three-year contract. That same season after Tyron Smith suffered a high ankle sprain against the Cleveland Browns, he replaced him as the team starting left tackle and also in the next game against the Washington Redskins. When Smith returned, he was worked into a regular rotation with starting right tackle Doug Free.

So he does have some experience at LT even though it was only 1 1/2 games.

Posted in November 2012 at http://sportsblogs.star-telegram.com/cow...enter.html

Owner Jerry Jones beamed. He couldn’t wait to be asked about backup left tackle Jermey Parnell.

“Parnell, I’m really proud of him,” Jones said. “He got his baptism under fire here and he came in and played.”

Parnell is one of Jones’ favorite players. He believes in the upside of the former college basketball player, who went undrafted out of Mississippi.

“I really am anxious to look at every play of Parnell,” Jones said. “But man, am I proud to see him come in, play like he did. And get this baptism under fire. He’s got a chance to be a good player for us.”

As a rookie, Parnell spent a year on the Saints’ practice squad, then went to the Dolphins’ practice squad in 2010. He was released, went back to the Saints, and then the Cowboys plucked him off the Saints’ practice squad.

He spent 2011 with the Cowboys, and before the draft this year, they signed him to a three-year extension.

“He has a whole career of upticks. I think he does. He’s got that kind of talent,” Jones said.

Parnell may get a chance to show Jones a lot more in the coming weeks. Starting left tackle Tyron Smith has a high ankle sprain.

“I think the film’s going to bear out that he really got a chance to play, and we’ve seen him,” Jones said. “We’ve seen him do things. But I noticed on several key plays there, short yardage, long yardage, that he was really bulldozing them out of there on the run game, which he does really well.”

Quote:Dude, I'm not trying to be mean.....but no the heck he didn't.

He got abused by Harrison. And got destroyed on the Bortles TD run.

He is too top heavy and is not a franchise LT.

He is almost cuttable.

Okay, the last statement is an total overreaction. Other than that, I feel you.

I guess we can dream right?

Glad someone pointed that key fact to Lukes defenders. He has to get this corrected

Luke is playing below average football. Things could obviously change but he needs a fire lit under him at this point. He is by far the weakest link of that line and the LT should never be your weakest link

He is the obvious weak link.

On a line with two second year mid-round draft picks.

Gosh this soooo much like the Monroe years...right up until Dave traded him then all the same people couldn't be quiet about what a mistake is was to give up our best player. Rolleyes

Monroe was playing solid and was a top 15 LT when we traded him. Joeckel ain't even top 30 right now.

Yeah, and Monroe was terrible and a constant target by these same people his first couple years.

Yes, he's better when the opponent puts in their backups.

I don't think I ever complained about Monroe's play...

As for Luke, I'm still waiting for week one, but if he gets abused, it's time for next man up...

Obviously, it's hard to temper reactions after the apparent poor play of last night... I still need to watch that game, so I'm in no means calling Luke out.

But based on last year and the "word on the street", it appears there is just cause for concern.

CHeck Jeremy's review in the other thread. He's pretty anti Joeckel, but his list is pretty accurate. I just don't see that what he reports is as terrible as these guys (who were already saying Luke was terrible before the game) make it out to be. He gave up a sack to James Harrison, it's clearly the end of the world.
