Who do you think will be the "surprise" cut of the preseason?

Quote:Chief, I'm not sure Poz is close to the best player on D in this team, currently. If he is, then problem in da Ville.

Poz was ranked by BR as the 22nd best ILB in the NFL in 2013 (injured 2014). Out of 60+ starting ILB he's def not a slouch. Maybe not the best on our defense but I don't understand why so many people want him gone. We could do much much worse than Poz.

Here's how you get a surprise cut:

1. The team's evaluation of a player is wildly different to everyone else's perception of their evaluation.
2. A player below them on the roster outperforms them massively.
3. Off the field issues that we don't know about - they're about to hit a massive suspension for drug use, or sucker punch the QB.

For this team I'd be expecting #3 to be the most likely cause of a surprise cut. And I don't have any candidates in mind. Tongue

Quote:Trading or cutting Poszluszny just doesn't make any sense.

And they just re-signed Alualu a few months ago and currently Marks and Odrick are injured and not playing. In what scenario do they release Alualu?

Wouldn't that make it a "surprise" cut?

 Blackmon is done.

UDFA, but OK... I'll give him that lol

Meh... I wasn't thinking about veteran free agents.

But even so... not exactly the most stellar class.

Quote:I don't understand why so many people want him gone.

He was constantly beat by the TE last year in coverage.

As was ANYONE else covering the TE.

I'm not one of the people trying to run POZ off, however... I think his coverage skills (and possibly Skuta's too) are lacking. And when teams throw as often as they do, those things shine through more than filling a gap and stopping a run, which Poz is pretty darn good at.

That all being said, I think he can definitely be upgraded, in today's NFL, you need LBs that can run stuff and cover...

We don't have anyone better for the MLB role on the roster and I doubt one gets cut...

So we just need to wait.

But there is no way Poz gets cut.

Surprise cuts come from areas of depth usually.

A WR, Dline, or RB are the only positions where a cut is coming that may come as a surprise to some.

Anywhere else is just too thin on talent.

I doubt anyone is surprised by the final 53 this year. Even if Redfern makes it over Anger, that isn't much of a surprise. And if a DB is cut it won't be much of a surprise with Colvin McCray House and Sample, Brown, Cyp, anyone else is just ST and deep depth anyway. Gratz would be the biggest surprise cut, and yet, due to his play and those around him, the cut wouldn't be THAT surprising.

Scobee, Anger and Branch maybe

Would say Clemons if not for the Fowler injury

Could still be a surprise cut however

Storm Johnson should definitely be cut no surprise here

Yes Blackmon is done

I could see Zane Beadles being traded with Wisnieski taking his spot at OLG. The Wiz is all power and power is not Beadles game.

What is this ancient feud that so many have with Poz? He's not fast, but he's one of the better plug-up-the-hole guys in the league.

I need to update this.  I would be very surprised if Thurston Armbrister gets cut.  I mean come on, the guy's first name is Thurston and Armbrister almost sounds like "arm buster".

Has he been shown up by young guys in camp, or is this just based on his absence early on? If Fowler were healthy, I'd agree with you 100% that Clemons' chances of making the team were, well, unsurprisingly low.

Yeah seriously. It's not like we are booming with proven depth at that position.

That appears to be another close battle, although keep in mind that Anger is also their holder.
