Dan Skuta got blocked in the dirt a couple times

Quote:We took a risk on Mark Brunell and Jeff Lageman also

Lageman was a good player for the Jets for like 6 years.

Quote:Maybe backup a few pages. The point of this thread is about his arguably poor performance. I said maybe he is not that good, and odds are he isn't. To which certain people want to argue about. If you can't handle the argument, get out.

And your whole basis for him being 'not that good' is because he didn't start for another team and one pre-season game where half of the D-line was out.  People give you examples and all you have is your, 'Yeah but....'

How stupid.

What argument?  You discount everything, and any time you make any kind of positive comment it always contains a caveat.

You're either really dumb, or just trying to be a pain in the rear end.  I'm guessing a little of both.

Ya I guess when I said "Good example" that was discounting, right?

My argument is that it should be no surprise IF he is just "a guy" for reasons I already went over.

I'm using nothing but reason and logic determining that most of these examples are invalid or not similar. How is that dumb? You're getting emotional. Step away from the keyboard and throw your computer in a trash can. Bye

Actually, the odds of a player sticking around this long while being given an increasing amount of playing time each year and still being bad are slim. Bad players are cut, not given increasing opportunity.

The NFL is a league that has zero problem with replacing mediocre aging players with youth. The fact that teams are willing to play him over younger unproven players should tell you he knows what he is doing on the field.

Nothing has been handed to this guy. This is a guy who has had to earn his starting position by hard work and practicing his craft.

Just because you are ignorant of him as a player doesn't mean he is a bad player that somehow lucked into this position.

So I'd say there has been a plethora of examples listed now.

Let's just look at the last pro bowl for players who started their career slowly but became excellent players:

Justin Forsett

Jordy Nelson

Martellus Bennett

Evan Mathis

Tony Romo

Emmanuel Sanders

Randall Cobb

Cameron Wake (spent two years in the CFL)

Mike Adams

Not sure he was a bust he started with the titans and was forced to play out of position as a nose due to the coaching staff favoring Casey, you want to start an interesting debate try and figure out which player is better, was better, or could be better career wise.

on a side note I hate the titans and still wanna rip Jeff Fishers stupid mustache off

Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine

I don't think I said he was bad. He is probably somewhere around average. Not an impact player.

He is definitely benefiting from a team that has limited options at the position.

Most of those are not even remotely close to a guy like Skuta.

Jordy Nelson? Are you kidding?

Why would I feel dumb when I'm right?

Ya ok, I'm sure Skuta is actually more likely to be in the pro bowl given his career... Because that's how Most players' careers go. They don't start for two teams and when they turn 29, bang PRO BOWL.

Did Dan Skuta steal your wife? Because I am missing why you are on some crusade to prove he isn't good and won't ever be even though there are many examples of guys pulling out a decent career after not starting for the first few years.

Huh? All I ever said was odds are he is an average player. How is that even remotely unrealistic?

Most players don't really hit their prime until their 9th year in the league. HAAAA

I hope you realize that you are the only person patting yourself on the back.

Instead of jumping to conclusions, how about waiting until around midseason before throwing confetti at your own party?

Justin Forsett - ok

Jordy Nelson - 2nd rd pick. Started producing in 3rd year. Typical of most receivers

Martellus Bennett - 2nd round pick. Has played decent for every team he played for especially as a run blocker.

Evan Mathis - ok, but 3rd rd pick

Tony Romo - started playing well for cowboys in his third year

Emmanuel Sanders - 3rd rd pick started producing in 3rd year. Typical WR progression.

Randall Cobb - highly touted prospect out of KY, 2nd rd pick. Produced in just his second year. Yup, just like Skuta.

Cameron Wake - never been unproductive in any season in the NFL, CFL, or college.

Mike Adams - you think he is that good?

Out of all these examples, maybe 1 is legit. Nice try. Thx for playing.

I'm not jumping to conclusions. Maybe he is going to be great starter for us for the next 5 years. Probably not though
