Allen Hurns is our most complete receiver

Quote:I'm not overly impressed with the Jaguars WRs. ARob is basically an average #2 WR. Behind him Lee and Hurns are typical slot quality WRs with Greene a not-to-shabby utility guy. After these guys you have a few dime-a-dozen near scrubs.
99% of the battle is getting open.

Sure these guys  had some bad drops, but lets keep this in perspective.

Murphy's law dictates that there is a chance that bad results may coincide with each other. Arob and Hurns have both had phenomenal games when things really count.

Don't be so ignorant to disqualify that based on a pre season game.

Agreed. I'd like to give our guys a chance to see if they can make the next step before saying we only possess a roster of J.A.Gs at receiver

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

If they make the catch they are the greatest thing ever, if they miss it hey are garbage.

I don't understand the type of ADD that only allows some people to process things in extremes. I  know this sounds mean, but this is like monkey intellect. They can't remember and process anything beyond the last stimulus.

Everything is in absolutes. It's black or white caveman processing with zero recollection of past results.

Quote:I think calling ARob a #2 is going a bit too far. The guy makes the right moves, cuts, and finds an opening in the defense. If he caught those passes tonight, you'd be saying he was great. He rarely drops passes, I'm not sure what his deal was tonight. Seattle has shown you don't need Randy Moss on your team to win. You just need a strong run game, a quarterback, and a mean defense.

When you look at the top WRs in the game, ARob is not at their level. I might have been harsh in saying an average #2, but at best he's a good #2 to a borderline #1. He doesn't have the speed of an elite WR, nor do any of our WRs, and he's not commanding double teams. I don't see him getting drafted early in any fantasy leagues outside of Duval. Probably the best thing going at WR for the Jaguars is that whoever you plug into the slot should be pretty good against nickel CBs.

Hurns has average hands, at best. Very frustrating because he does seem to have a knack for getting open, but that matters little if you have inconsistent hands. Needs lots of work with the jugs machine!

Hurns would be a quality #2 WR if his hands were better. Last year it was pointed out that he was primarily body catching, and in the OTAs they talked about getting him to use his hands more. I see him trying to do this much, but it might be a deeper issue with him. This is probably why he went undrafted. While he lacks elite speed, he's got natural football speed to get downfield, runs great routes, and is adept at tracking the ball in the air, but until you can rely on him to make the catch consistently you can't call him "a complete WR."

Allen Robinson is all I'll say here.

I'll wait until preseason is over with but I am now leaning more towards Allen Robinson than I was last year.  He keeps improving while Hurns is appears to be regressing.

I think that if hurns keeps regressing.. Marqise Lee could take the number 2 wr spot.. Lee would be a perfect wr to compliment arob..

I can't make judgments about the WR's until we have a real RB in the backfield.

He might be the best receiver that can't catch.

LoL

Joking aside... I like the idea of Hurns and AR15 on the outside with Lee and Greene providing slot work for the foreseeable future.

Hurns is only missing one thing that will make him the total package; hands.

It stinks that hurns has so many high profile drops. But I think of all the catches he made in traffic while getting clobbered last season.

I'm hoping hurns makes us all eat crow during the season.

AR15 is by far the best wr we got. But I'm rooting for hurns to take the next step and works on making these drops a thing of the past.

He lead the team in drops last year as well if I'm not mistaken.  That being said, he was also the most reliable big play threat the team had, so it was feast or famine.  Hopefully he'll continue to make big plays when they matter, and we won't have so many sure catches hitting the turf.

He's an NFL receiver for crying out loud, he should make the occasional touch catch, the problem is he drops the routine catches an NFL receiver should make, like the one on Saturday night. I just don't know how this team can depend on a guy that has undependable hands, Allen Hurns hands will ultimately cost us a game this season.

Can't have Blake relying on someone who continually makes huge/drive killing drops.

This team is the king of making terrible mistakes are just the right time to screw a good drive.
