The Great, Big Joeckel Thread (merged threads)

Quote:Y'all are so spoiled. Bortles got sacked 55 times last year, that's more than three a game. Luke gave up a sack the first game, and none since. Give it a rest. Yea, he didn't give up a sack, but that was more a testament to Bortles' awareness. Joeckel was a whipping post last night. On the one glaring occasion, he got bull rushed onto his [BLEEP] and nearly took out Bortles' knee in the process. Joeckel is a major liability at this point imo. Joeckel is a major liability at this point imo. That was a scary-looking play. He definitely has to pick things up or we will be in the market for a new LT next year. Still, I have noticed that they seem to be leaving him on his own rather than game-planning any chips from TE's or RB's I think last year it was much different. If so, although it is still very much a work in progress, and not fun to watch, he is doing better. One can hope, anyway. All said, help is not on the way, and we will just have to sit back and see how the season goes. As long as everyone else on the line continues to look good, I think we will be OK.

Quote:He weighed around his current weight at A&M and during his rookie season. Last season he was playing under 300lbs because of his rehab from the leg injury. The offseason weight gain isn't new muscle as much as it is regaining his old muscle. It doesn't matter if he weighed that before or not. Gaining 20 pounds of pure muscle in 2 months as a world class athlete is near impossible naturally and difficult even if he roided. He may have gained 20 pounds - that's not difficult... But 20 pounds of lean muscle is another story. Quote:That was a scary-looking play. He definitely has to pick things up or we will be in the market for a new LT next year. Lewis helping the Joke, so we can protect our asset Bortles, and JT on the other side to catch passes. ![]()
After re-watching the game, I don't think that Joeckel is "bad", but he certainly is not a "stud" in the game. He did get beat on a couple of plays, but show me one left tackle in the league that never gets beat.

Jags last game was Dec 28. and OTAs started late May. In any case, it doesn't appear to be strength anyways. His balance is all jacked up and hasn't learned when to lean forward or step back. There was talk about it in a press conference, radio show, or something. ![]()

I think they're giving him a chance to show what he's got by throwing him to the wolves, only he's severely disappointed thus far. No doubt Marcedes Lewis will be attached to Joeckel's hip if he continues to be a turnstile come the regular season. If they let Bortles take the same beating he did last year, I'm done with this coaching staff. They won't do that though, I hope/think.
Luke will either work out his issues or he won't be around for his next contract, but a better replacement isn't on this roster! Might as well find a LG in that hunt as well.

Or Parnell for that matter. I pray to the football gods every night for Blake's health. We don't have a Modis in the Bahamas, but we have a 136 foot tall windmill that will do just fine should Blake suffer a season ending injury.
Marcedes is going to be our LT.5 this season. He will stay and help for the most part while Thomas and Harbor move.
Success is a journey, not a destination. Go all out Mighty Jaguars.
Damn Treestone. How do you plan to utilize the windmill? #NassauWeeps

He started out ok last night, then it became ugly. He needs to step his game up and has little time to do it. Carolina has a good d line and whatever DE he is going to face is going to be licking his chops.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but Phillip Hunt (former Eagles bubble player/CFL DE) beat him like a drum.

I'll meet you at the windmill treestone. ![]() Quote:Gerhart at LT Even though slowby can be underwhelming, I know he is a hell of a lot tougher than Joke. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. It is A LOT easier to gain back muscle you once had than to build new muscle. Gaining 20lbs worth of new muscle over one offseason would be extremely difficult if not impossible to do naturally, but to build himself back up to the where he was one year prior isn't that much of a stretch especially with facilities, trainers, supplements these athletes are afforded.
Saw Pierce come over and catch a rusher one time....great blocking awareness on his part or else Blake would have been on the grass.
Can they get Tony B. to school this big teddy bear some?
Because Jaguars is our mantra
