Jaguars cuts

IMO with this final roster it is clear Kahn is giving them another year not being concerned about W/L. Lots of jars on the shelf. Defense will be about same, Offense will be better and IMO max 6 wins.

Oh wow! I was hoping they'd move Marks off PUP, but I didn't believe they actually would. I kept wondering who would get the ax in order to do so. Clealry that person is Ziggy Hood going to IR. On the bright side this means Lotulelei, Armbrister and LaRoy Reynolds all made the roster but I really didn't think George would get cut.

So Evans beat out Loston and Young beat out Pasztor, meaning one less Gene Smith guy. These must have been tough calls to make.

Possibly. I don't know that a mild ankle sprain was enough to sway the decision, but it was enough to give Evans more playing time and he took advantage by laying a few hits that reminded me of Gerald Sensabaugh.

Lol

What cuts could have been made to make you think otherwise? We cut Pasztor and all of the sudden we are mailing it in? Hahaha

Quote:As per the 2015 pre-season, McCray hasn't played up to the same standards as the 2014 season. He didn't play press coverage to which he allowed his receiver to run free while he played catch up. Nevertheless, the releasing of McCray is not an option. We simply have better talent at the position...

NH3...
lol, he got injured in the 1st game and didnt play in the 2nd and 3rd

I'm sure this was key. If he learns to tackle he could play gunner.

Quote:I have no problem with him being on the 53, just think he'll be inactive on gamedays. He was a corner but he's been a corner for a couple of years so to expect him to come into the NFL and play corner after barely 4 pre-season games is very ambitious.

I think you meant he was a corner but has been a quarterback for a couple years, right? Watching him I don't see a CB. I don't see him turning to look for the ball or trying to make a play, and typically he's out of position to make the tackle. It's not that he doesn't have the speed, but he's not stopping on a dime to stay with the WR and will overrun the play. He just doesn't seem to have the hips.

Cutting Pasztor and not signing Tebow. Obviously tanking the season

Quote:George was horrible in the Washington game. He is AWFUL in pass coverage.

I guess that's what did it. He had a monster game vs the Giants prompting me to think he was a roster lock. The guy looks like a MLB too with that neck of his. Seeing him waived catches me a tad off guard, but then again I really did like Armbrister and Lotulelei, and it seemed all along like they were going to keep LaRoy Reynalds. So which one backs up at MLB? And which one at OTTO? All three can play WLB.

I have no doubt he goes on the PS should he clear waivers, but I'm guessing somebody will claim Jeremiah first.

Armbrister has cross trained at both MLB and WLB. Lotulelei plays WLB exclusively. Reynolds has some experience at MLB but is the primary back up at OTTO.

As of now I would say Armbrister at MLB, Lotulelei at WLB and Reynolds at OTTO.

I had said in another thread that we had so many good DLineman that I wouldnt be surprised if we kept 11 of them.  But I suppose they figured that out by just putting Hood on the IR even if his injury isnt that bad.

As far as numbers by position, we kept everything the same as last year barring one swap.  Last year our initial 53 man roster had 10 OL and 3 TE.  This year 9 OL and 4 TE.  Everything else is the same.

This makes absolutely no sense. For starters, Khan has nothing whatsoever to do with these roster decisions. For another, how could any other decisions really improve the roster all that much? What are thinking they got wrong? This team had better get to six wins or else Bradley probably does get the ax. Don't think Khan won't go there.

Yeah this seems to be the case.  Really it will be the right way to play it.  But we have to see progress.  I don't think we can have the equivalent of a "push" or breaking even.

Yes it does make sense and it does seem like they will get another year to work it out.  Year three roster doesn't look like an or else fire the coach roster.  This looks like show improvement or else roster.  The first draft was garbage so year one was just salt on the fans wounds. The 2014 and 2015 draft was a pool of talented players and the GM had to get building blocks to prove it.  With how crappy the 2013 draft stock was, can you honestly say the roster wasn't hurt?

Because those two = championship, right?

He saying that this roster suggests Khan is ok with mediocrity? What does Khan have to do with these decisions?

Let's not kid ourselves.  It was basically a coin flip.

Next talented guy with that comes around will replace him.  Same as if Loston had not been injured and won the spot.

It's still up for grabs.

Nothing that bad about the 2013 jaguar draft. Starting LT, starting SS, costarting RB, and some good depth like McCray in the 7th. Plenty of teams did a lot worse that year.
