Caldwell= Gene Smith 2.0?

Quote:Money talks. I'd bet Chucky would love to take the job if you offered him enough. He likes Florida, and would get the chance to show what an offensive genius can do with Bortles.You mean the same Chucky that signed a contract extension agreement in 2014 with ESPN until 2021. Which he said there is no other place he would rather be when the Raiders tried to get him.. Yeah, count him out on that dream! Who else?

Quote:I'd recommend rewatching the game and keying in on Joeckel. It's a slight stretch to call him serviceable unless you mean he's a 300 lb ish body to have on the football field. The Jags will have to address the position in the next off season or draft. First off, I would NEVER recommend rewatching that game. Even once was too much. Secondly, the Jags only gave up one sack while Joeckel was in, and that was to a blitzing LB, not Joeckel's responsibility. Joeckel certainly has room for improvement, but from what I've seen so far this season (and preseason) he's far from the worst LT in the NFL. Yeah, count him out on that dream! Pretty much. The guy is getting paid handsomely to sit back and talk. The same applies for Cowher and Dungy. They aren't going anywhere.

Caldwell is any run of the mill mediocre GM
He had me fooled with some of his good finds but sooner then later performance is gonna have to show on the field not just off it. He's better then Gene tho.
Jaguars Braves Hawks Gators

Yeah, count him out on that dream! Yes, that same Chucky. He'd be my 1st choice. I named him because he still is available. And I'm sure he could easily get out of the ESPN deal if he wanted to coach again. I don't know who else will be available after this season. Someone will probably turn up. After last season Jim Harbaugh was available (Jim Harbaugh!, one of the best recent head coaches), as were Ryan, Fox, and Kubiak. Maybe you wouldn't want some of them (and neither would I) but that at least shows that former NFL winning head coaches are available. The Jags missed several opportunities recently, Arians being the biggest miss IMO. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?"
Don't forget Andy Reid

Quote:I honestly can't blame Caldwell. The dude is bringing in the talent. Like someone above said, we aren't seeing progestin or development. I expected Bortles will have another tough season. I saw improvement today, but that pick 6 shows me he needs to work a heck of a lot more in the film room Progestin = a new drug or probiotic to promote healthy digestion?

The Jags didn't even try before they hired Mularkey and Caldwell. If your point is that no good coach would want the Jags job, then you might as well just switch rooting for another team because we'll never get a good coach if that's the case. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?"
I'll take anyone over Gene Smith.
He took Anger in the third round. And Anger is nothing special whatsoever.

Didnt know much about Jason Meyers but holy crap, we cut a proven vet for a rookie who sucked at kicking in college just cuz he had a big leg
I thought he was just a good kicker in college who feel thru the cracks <p style="font-family:Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif;font-size:16px;color:rgb(51,51,51);">"GM David Caldwell made a huge mistake by trading kicking Josh Scobee and keeping Jason Myers <p style="font-family:Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif;font-size:16px;color:rgb(51,51,51);">Scobee did miss two field goal attempts for Pittsburgh on Thursday, but those kicks came on a rainy, windy night. Myers had perfect weather and field conditions on Sunday and he still pushed a 44-yard attempt wide right and did the same thing on a PAT after the Jaguars’ only touchdown. Myers wasn’t a good kicker in college, making only 63.2 percent of his field goal attempts (24 of 38) at Marist. He made just 3 of 9 field goal attempts from 40-49 yards." <p style="font-family:Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif;font-size:16px;color:rgb(51,51,51);">http://espn.go.com/blog/jacksonville-jag...osh-scobee

By looking at any of the other "opportunities, which one did you think that has experience turning around a bad team---- For example, Ryan went 6-10,8-8,and 4-12 from 2012 to 2014. by looking at his recent resume as a GM or owner--Do you seriously think he would have change things in Jax when he was on the decline in NJ?

Quote:He's clueless We'll see next year but if you watched him at Florida it's painfully obvious he's a speed guy if someone squared up on him he was out of the play more times than not. |
