I'd be surprised if we didn't beat the Bucs.  Julius should be back.  Marks should have a couple games under his belt and should be able to help out a lot.  Lee may even be able to help out.

Bucs looked worse than we did.  At least our defense did okay and didn't give up 4 TDs to a rookie QB playing his first game.

 

That being said, our schedule looks tough.  We definitely have to improve from week 1 if we plan on winning more than 3 games.

I'd take Tampa's receivers and TEs 100 times out of 100 over Carolina.

 

Their OLs are about the same-bad.

I'll give Mariota credit for looking legit, but yeah Bucs suck.  Having Mike Evans back should help them a lot offensively, but even then, that's not going to fix all the other issues they have.

You are right about the experienced Newton being better than Winston.  But that's where the pressure needs to come into play.

 

Pressuring Winston will force him into some bad reads and throws.

 

If we can't pressure him, he can throw it up to those tall WRs.

We've seen 1-8 beat 8-1. Rook Lefty 'take down' Manning in Indy...


The team we saw yesterday didn't lose because they lack talent. They lost due to inopportune mistakes, lack of cohesion -perhaps justifiably - and no true sense of 'taking' a game. This is not a bottom feeder roster, in my honest view. They are merely a bad team. A team that doesn't know how to play winning ball for now. As Gus said, they are 'built'...Minimize self inflicted shoots, come up with sane game plans on O, play to your QB's strengths, find ways to shore the line (the hard part), and they'll be fine.


I am currently on research fellowship back in DC. Considering how bad the Skins are, Cousins looked woeful, threw a couple of picks yet they had Miami on the ropes. They can be had. Plus, they are on the road in consecutive weeks, granted just down ours. IF we manage to get to 1-1, who knows what path this takes? That's the beauty of football, and that's how I see it.


The script can't be prewritten, 1 week in advance, let alone 8. Let's breathe n watch.

Next week is the breaking point, no way to sugar coat it. It is the single most important game in Gus Bradley's tenure. If they don't come away with a W, you can go ahead and take 0-4 to the bank. Then it's all downhill from there. I'm not sure Bradley makes it to week 5 if that's the case. Shad has been real patient so far, but I can't imagine him putting up with another winless September.

 

Keep in mind that his team will be away from Everbank for a while too. What a sour taste to leave.

Life's tough.  Marrone isn't an upgrade.  He's got his fingerprints all over the offense already.  You're whining that this is all Gus' fault.  Marrone is in on the offensive play calling.   Ma

Marrone has a 9-7 record as head coach.  He has more wins in 1 season then gus has so far in year 3.  We don't know what his authority is on offense.  I do know Gus should of been up in the coordinators ear about changing the play calling going into the 4th quarter.

Gus lets his coordinators, especially on the offensive side of the ball, do their job.  If he's in anyone's ear about the offensive play calling, it's Marrone who is hearing about it.  I didn't pay attention to the sideline yesterday, but he was right there with Gus on the field during the preseason, and was involved in any sideline huddles with the offense, so he's right there in making the decisions.
