Former NFL star Todd Christensen dies at age 57 Todd Christensen, the brawny tight end whose sure hands helped lead the NFL's Raiders to two Super Bowl championships in the 1980s, died of complications following surgery in a Utah hospital. He was 57. Christensen's son, Toby Christensen, said his father passed away Wednesday morning at Intermountain Medical Center near his home in Alpine, Utah. http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2013/11/13...latestnews ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. I saw this sad news around 2 hours ago. It was shocking to say the least. I had no idea Todd Christensen was ill. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and those close to him.
When it comes to receiving TE's that knew how to get open and caught practically everything in their direction, Todd Christensen remains in an elite class of TE's ever to play in the NFL.
Sad news. Great player, great broadcaster. And from all accounts, a great person. Trevor Madich was on ESPN earlier talking about him and was in tears.
RIP

Charlie Jones was one of my all-time favorite play by play NFL Announcers. I think back to the 1990's when Charlie Jones and Todd Christensen were paired up on NBC, when that network still owned the rights to the road AFC games on Sunday Afternoon. This was one of the most underrated broadcasting teams in the NFL. Sadly, both are no longer with us in the physical sense. We show less advertisements to registered users. The following is an awesome video tribute of Todd Christensen as a TE with the Raiders. It brings back great memories and provides new appreciations. When it comes to videos that someone put together, it doesn't get much better than this. The same regarding Todd Christensen as a receiving TE. When one watches this, it's easy to see why Todd Christensen was one of the key players on two Raiders Super Bowl winning teams:

Although I know and sort of remember Christensen as a player, it's as a broadcaster that he seems more memorable.
The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.
Charlie Jones was the best. When I lived on the west coast, we used to always get the game he did. Alot of Raiders, Broncos and Chargers. He was so good.

Christensen - old-skool NFL Films - the poem by Steve Sabol - Stabler - everything about it. The Raiders adopted that poem as their own. <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() His face is weather beaten. <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() He growls as he storms the country, <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() The Autumn Wind is a raider, <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() <p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users.
