Don't sleep on Florida. They are missing 4 key players - Wilbekin, Finney-Smith, Harris and Walker. The Gators you see in January will be much different then the club that almost took out Wisconsin last night. I was very impressed how the short handed Gators played last night.

Agreed. If they can get Walker that will be HUGE. He is probably the most athletic guy in all of college basketball and they are going to need his height and length come March. It also helps that he and Hill already have chemistry playing together.

The rule brings basketball closer to what it was meant to be. The NBA and College basketball became a completely different game over the past 15-20 years. The level of physical play teams got away with was to much. Not how basketball was meant to be played.

 

I understand the reasoning behind it, but it had the effect of slowing down the game. This concerns me because VCU uses tempo as an advantage when it is playing teams with more talent than them, which is pretty often when they are playing ACC teams and / or in a post-season tournament. Now with these new rules in place, the team cannot drive the tempo up as much as it used to, at least that was the effect that I noticed.

Maybe sports is really for a younger generation now or something but it really doesn't appeal to me the way it did.

I was so wound up after that win Tuesday night, I don't think I even attempted to get into my bed until after midnight. I couldn't even begin to say when I got to sleep. It's just a different emotional investment for me.

It used to be that college basketball players were strictly high school coached, mostly recruited locally and earned their chops on the collegiate hardwood for four years at a chance to be drafted with an education to boot. Now with the growth of the AAU, colleges serve little more than developmental leagues or holding areas for the NBA. The hungry ambitious kid working for a future through college has been replaced by highly coached and scouted NBA talent with an air of entitlement and full expectations of wealth, endorsements, and entourages.


It's not fun anymore.

You're right, which is why it's exciting to see VCU, or Butler, or Gonzaga make it so deep into the tournament. They're typically viewed as the underdogs but really represent true collegiate competition.

I still root for the Cats, but watching them isn't as exciting as it used to be.

Well, you won't feel that way for long. If Calipari follows suit, he'll drift out of town in a few years and Kentucky will be mired in NCAA sanctions and investigations. So you've got that going for you, which is nice.

Seriously can't figure out what his deal is man. It's so frustrating watching him.


Either way, if the Gators can get fully healthy and all of those dummys that got suspended come back soon, we should have a very competitive team. Hopefully... This football season has sucked to epic proportions. I need something to root and be happy about besides the Blackhawks.

I am still glued to just about anything sport on TV. Still can't get enough!
