I just saw a circus show with the SO put on by a traveling troupe from the People's Republic of China. It was more than impressive. This is relevant I am sure.

     After giving it some thought,  my gut feeling is most of the Scott Walker supporters will go mostly to candidates that are perceived to be on the right.    While I don't consider Donald Trump to be on the right,   like you I'm concerned that he's going to garner a sizable amount of Walker's support.     If Ted Cruz doesn't win the nomination and a longshot Conservative doesn't pull off a mega upset,   I much rather Marco Rubio emerge as the nominee than Trump or Carly Fiorina.    Even eliminating my actual opinion of Trump and Fiorina,  which isn't favorable,   I have very little confidence either would win the general election.   Rubio is someone who I currently believe has a very realistic chance of winning the general election.

  So much is going to be determined by the next few debates leading up to Iowa,  fundraising,  and how the candidates use their financial resources.    Having said this,  there's no question this has been the least predictable race I have seen in either major party in a very long time.    The outside candidates are 1, 2, 3 in the latest major poll.

Cruz's seat would no doubt go to another Tea Party Republican, but the more I think about it, the less likely I think he'd be to accept a VP seat. He can make a lot more headlines and a lot more noise if he remains the unofficial king of the Tea Party in the Senate, which would bolster his future bids for the Presidency (because we all know there will be at least two more).

 

Rubio's seat would be a toss-up. You guys know Florida as well as I do. It's as blue as it is red. Strictly imo, Rubio was able to overcome the "R" next to his name because he's Latino, and that drew in a huge chunk of the typically-blue Latino vote from South Florida. If the Republican Party can find another bright, charismatic Latino to step in, they'll likely keep the seat. If they run a crotchety old white guy, they'll lose it.

 

Paul...I'd hate to think of who would take Paul's seat if he were to become the VP. It's Kentucky. It might be another bright, unconventional mind like Paul, or it might be that wacko clerk. Who knows?

 

*Edit: I should add this here as well. I do not like Ted Cruz's platform or his ideals. That said, after seeing him on Colbert last night, I'm reminded that he is, if nothing else, extremely intelligent, very articulate and a true gentleman, and to his credit, he's one of the very few candidates in this race who is, again imo, being completely honest about his platform, what he thinks and what he intends to do. I hope Senator Cruz is never in a position to run this country, but I would love to meet him at some hole-in-the-wall bar in Texas for a couple beers someday. It would probably be one of the most engaging discussions of my life, even if he and I agree on very little.
