Trent Richardson to Colts For First Rounder

Quote:Earlier you were saying that the Trent pick might not be so bad because the Colts might otherwise made a bad selection with that first rounder. What you're saying here would seem to refute that assumption entirely.

What I need to know is if there's still any hope for Trent. I have him on my FF roster after trading Ellington for him weeks ago, and only have one good RB on my roster to speak of. The hope was that Trent would be a quality starter, but clearly that hasn't been anywhere near the case. Should I hang on a little longer in case things change for him as the weather gets colder, or is he simply a lost cause that I need drop now? I'm basically asking if Colts fans see anything in Trent to think that things might turn around for him.

Not sure I did. If anything I made the case stronger saying Grigson can find top tier players in any round.

I have hope for Trent in the future, but I don't have hope in the OL in the present. Next year should be the true test. I'm assuming Colts will pour most of their free agent $$$ on OL. The interior of this OL is just so incredibly bad. Might be the worst the Colts have ever had (interior wise).

The Longer Grigson is in charge in Indy, the better for Texans, Jags and Titans fans.

Wasting money in free agency, trading away draft picks. I think we all know how this ends...Except for Colts fans it seems

Quote:The Browns did not get worked, it was a mistake to draft Trent Richardson 3rd overall to begin with, a runningback has to have a RARE combination of vision, speed, power, quickness, and lateral agility (an Adrian Peterson clone) to warrant going that high. Trent Richardson never possessed those elite traits for the Browns to make such a pick, I'm shocked the Colts gave up a 1st round pick for him, they are a lot more than a runningback away (Imo) from being considered a serious contender.

Richardson is juuuust barely outplaying Willis McGahee since joining the Colts.

Richardson averaging 2.8 ypc and has 2 TDs

McGahee averaging 2.6 ypc and has 1 TD.

...other than MoJo, you might be right. And at least MoJo can still get the ball across the goal line on a semi consistent basis.

“I’m not frustrated at all because I think I’ve been playing good,” Richardson said, via the Indianapolis Star

I saw that quote this morning and couldn't help but laugh, Trent Richardson will go down as one of the biggest bust in the last 15 years, and it's because two 1st round picks were spent on him, oops.

Jeez, this is ridiculous. Can we have some perspective, please?

To claim he is a bust is absurd. Remember, his rookie year (last year) he ran for 950 yards, 11 rush touchdowns. He caught 367 yards with 1 touchdown. And he missed one game, he could've easily got over 1,000 rushing yards. That was with broken ribs, too. That's pretty dang impressive as a rookie.

Has he lived up to his billing as a Colt yet? Nope, definitely not. But to claim him to be this big bust, that's something he's not, yet.

If you watch the Colts play, it's really weird. I know, definitely on this forum, I'll get ragged for this but if you watch when Richardson gets the ball it almost always with a defender meeting him in the backfield. Now how can I explain why Donald is doing so much better? I can't. I don't know.

I'm still hoping he returns to his rookie form, and it might not be this year, but I have a feeling he will in future years (with an offseason & decent o-line ahead of him). Time will tell.

As a Jaguar fan we've learned many painful lessons, and here's the 1st you one you should learn.

1.) When you have to argue why player X isn't a bust, he's usually a bust.

So he almost got a 1000 yards and he only missed one game and got the majority of the carries. That's very impressive (30 years ago)

Jones Drew as a rookie 2nd round pick started 1 game.

941 yards off 166 attempts 436 Rec yards off 46 Catches 16 Total TD's

Richardson:

950 yards off 267 attempts, 367 Rec Yards off 51 Catches 12 Total TD's

Imagine if Jones Drew had a 100 more carries and more snaps for catches.

Give any back in the league 267 Carries and 90% of them will get 1000 yards and they weren't 3rd overall picks

Quoting this for truth. The denial going on with the colts fans is unreal.

Your GM literally flushed a first round pick down the toilet on this guy.

The good news is you have andrew luck, so you'll still be a good team,.

The bad news is your team won't be having high draft choices for a while, so it's important to make the most of what draft picks you have, and this one can pretty much be written off as a bust.

Your GM should have known better, considering that the browns gave up picks to trade up and get him that they'd be so willing to part with him one year later should have sounded alarms in any decent GMs head.
