Not Likely To Happen But What If...

#1

...the Jags and Giants both had awful seasons and both head coaches were fired on Black Monday. Would you want Coughlin to re-join the Jags? I'd take him back in a heartbeat. Not likely but fun to talk about regardless. Thoughts?

Nope.

He's got to be almost done. 10 years ago I'd give you a different answer but not now.

No thanks. He was great at what he did here back when he did it here. But, this isn't 2001, and I think he's beginning to slow down.

He did do some great things here, though. Wouldn't want to disparage the past, but it might be best to leave the past right there.

He's getting too old and wouldn't be here long enough to matter.

You guys are probably right. I just miss having an explosive offense which is something we haven't had since Coughlin was here. We need to find a younger offensive mind that can take this team to the next level and be here for the next several years. I just don't think Gus is the guy to lead us going forward, he's a great D coordinator though.

Na, I would hope he would retire.

Still would like to see Tom get a nice cushy front office job when he is done with New York.

I doubt Coughlin would want to jump right back into coaching.  He'd probably take at least a year off, get a TV job like he did when he was fired from the Jags.  Maybe head back to college if he decides to coach again.

I'd at least bring him in for an interview, kick the tires on him so to speak.

Honestly, I think he'd go back to the NCAA ranks where maybe the pressure isn't as high and he can just enjoy coaching again.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

He turns 70 next year. I am sure this is his last job.

I dunno. To me, guys like Coughlin aren't looking for tv gigs to fill the time in their day between walks to the coffee shop and piddling around the yard. Coughlin always came across as a football junkie to me where that's all he really wants to do. Now, I'm not saying that he goes to Texas to become their Head Coach, but what about an FCS School where he can run things his own way and let his legacy keep the alumni quieted down? That I can see him doing.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sean Payton is done in New Orleans after this year.  If Bradley is fired, and explosive offense is what you want, I'd bring in Payton.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!
