All the time, and I'm always at a loss for an answer.

Interesting question. I don't get asked that very often but in my view for a large percentage of the population the answer is no.

The question I get most often at my bar is; "if you're not suppose to drink and drive then why do bars have parking lots". Well obviously the correct answer is; "the parking lot is for you to park your car."

Here's a couple of questions that should be asked.  The answers might surprise you.

Tell how to get 10 from 8+5?

Describe the number of people that 10 represents?

There are 10 kinds of people in this world.  Those who understand binary and those who don't.

A better question is "would you tow it if I left it there overnight?"

Most people are forced to make it up as they go along. They aren't pretending, they just had a plan that didn't survive first contact with reality.

I have learned over the years that most people are pretty clueless about a great many things.

They would have no idea how to even pretend to know what they are doing.

Most people just do, without ever thinking about the consequences of what they are doing, on themselves or on others.

Some of them just kind of know bad things can happen, but they just have the mindset that "it won't happen to me".

This is why you will see and read about people doing stupid things, and I mean really stupid things, where even stupid people will say "dayum that was stupid".

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

I can answer both of these correctly, but the question is, will my answers be what you're expecting?

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Oh! wasn't expecting that.

Some people have their junk together, but no one has it all together and yes a lot of people pretend. Best I got.

"I won't get divorced."

"I won't get cancer."

"I'll never have a car wreck."

"I won't get laid off."

"My daughter won't get pregnant in high school."

"I will win the lottery."

"I will have a job that makes those student loans worthwhile."

All things that do or don't happen that are beyond your control most of the time. Some can get by pretending when they do, but most people lose years and decades of progress over the course of their lives because of these kind of things. I personally lost 8 years and almost $100,000 to divorce. I've been fortunate to recover, but having success taken away at 30 and having to start entirely over took its toll.

its not always the same question but ya i have a lot of dissatisfied associates with whatever they are doing in life some of it is people getting into the wrong career another part is a person's education not getting them where they thought it would.

Ya i'm not sure why it did that when i posted below is the original question.

yes it was idk why the post messed up originally

ya i believe the answer to most people is no, i like to think people ask me because they think i do have a plan.  I have an optimistic one where my new real estate career works out and i start selling more houses then buying a couple to fix up and flip. I like my career but now its a point of making it happen and becoming a success.

thats pretty spot on, it hurts to see and i don't know if the logical move is the one anyone makes because everyone has that it won't happen to me mentality.  So they go along and go through the motions and pretend instead of being proactive in their choices and really doing something they want to in life.

Sorry to get all philosophical with this post but it was an interesting question I was asked and I wanted a discussion on it with people I don't really have a personal attachment too.  Its a simple question but it can go pretty deep
