You didn't answer my question. Your premise that strength of schedule is irrelevant seems to be based on the idea that the 4 conferences are all guaranteed representation in the playoff. So I'll ask again: How much would you be willing to bet that this doesn't happen at least one time in the next three seasons?

I gotcha. What I'm saying is I think it is overrated. Noles have a better chance getting to playoffs in a weaker conference than any team in the SEC does in the "best" conference.

I don't deny that. FSU for years had beaten the system by playing cupcakes all year and acting like their undefeated record means just as much as undefeated team's in real conferences.


Now the ACC is a bit tougher. They just got lucky in landing Jameis, a once a decade type player. Now that he's gone they will not be as dominant.

We play who is in our conference. I'd love for college to be more like the NFL and only have big time programs play getting rid of conferences. Too many cup cake games for all teams. But we play who we play.

With the playoffs, it really doesn't matter. One team goes from each conference. The argument is pointless, but go vols.

Not correct. Strength of schedule is one of the protocols the committee looks at. Head to head as well. Strength of conference most certainly is huge still. 

 

Either way, folks will get the points I've brought up ad nauseam, or they will choose not to. This thread proves that.
