Caldwell was in Indy when they drafted Manning. He was in Atlanta when they drafted Matt Ryan. I have no doubt that if a franchise QB is staring him in the face, he's the guy.

My fear is losing out on Bridgewater, who is clearly a bona-fide franchise guy like the 2 you mentioned....and Caldwell will then reach for one of the scraps and pretend he's our franchise QB, but there will clearly be a step down from Teddy.

My fear is losing out on Bridgewater, who is clearly a bona-fide franchise guy like the 2 you mentioned....and Caldwell will then reach for one of the scraps and pretend he's our franchise QB, but there will clearly be a step down from Teddy.

In a perfect world, we could have Clowney and Bridgewater.  But you can't have your cake and eat it too.  Even if the Jaguars totally deserve it for the suffering we went through with Mike Mularkey as our coach, and taking several of our home games and putting them in London. I mean really Goodell.  Don't we want to show London good games?  What better than a franchise QB and a potential HOF DE?  

 

Teddy looks really good from what little I've seen.  I'm a lot more impressed with him than I was with Geno Smith (which was, like when I was hoping for Jimmy Clausen, because of our QB Drought)

I would doubt Teddy stays another year....He has the Matt Barkley recent example to show what can happen by staying the extra year and not entering the draft at your highest value point. Barkley was widely considered a top 3 pick had he entered the draft the year before....he stayed and wound up being a 4th rounder.

Not sure where you're getting that he can't win.  Dalton has had an easier schedule than Cam Newton, and he has AJ Green.  And of the 21 games that Newton has lost, only 6 are by more than a touchdown (Dalton does only have 5, but he also has less losses so that makes sesne).  Cam Newton is 14-21, while Dalton is 21-14.  Just a 7 game difference.  I'd also say that the Bengals were already in better shape than the Panthers (and still are).  

 

I don't think Dalton has been that good, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if Newton doesn't win a playoff game before Dalton.  

 

I'd also say that you can never compare draft classes by 'circumstances'.  

 

Where am I getting that he can't win?  sCam hasn't produced a single winning season.  He's a playmaker that racks up stats playing from behind, but that doesn't necessarily make him a winner.

Problem is, he hasn't proven yet that he's "clearly a bona-fide franchise guy" any more than any of the other franchise candidates, and it is certainly not a fact that "there will clearly be a step down from Teddy."

 

Talk about getting ahead of yourself... wow.

 

 

 

I just hope Gene goes to LeFevour's pro day or brings him in like he did Sanchez, last year.

Was it racking up stats while playing from behind in the game against Airzona in 2011?  His second highest yards in a game.
