What could have been...1st rounders since DC

#21

I am posting in this high quality thread that was obviously conceived, planned and written by a sober person!

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Imagine if we had drafted those players, only for them to not really pan out here, or get hurt...

broken records...

What kills me is when you see a team like Green Bay, who for nearly 2 decades have picked in the second half of the draft, continue to reload instead of rebuild. Hats off to their scouting department, they have a great eye for talent.

Helps when you have Favre and Rodgers, doesn't it?

Quote:We're all over Telvin and Hurns on this board, but lets be honest. We aren't talking about elite players at their position here. Sure they were great value and nice additions to the team, but those two aren't cornerstone players.

Not every pick had to be elite picks! You're talking about a late rounder and a udfa! Plus, telvin is all over the field, he's pretty good. Hurns, if he can eliminate the drops then he can turn the corner. I'm mean seriously you can troll a little better, right?
You either die as a good poster, or live long enough to become the troll.

Everytime you talk about Fowler you continue to prove you have no idea what you are talking about.

Quote:Atl since DC left: Trufant (good), Matthews (stud), Beasley (rising star)

Jax: Joeckel, Bortles, Fowler

Sigh...
Of course there is no way of knowing this for sure, but the Falcons would probably have taken Fowler over Beasley if they were both still on the board. Also, this board and every one else in the football world would have destroyed Caldwell had he taken Desmond Trufant 2nd overall.

No one named DC left the team. Who in the world are you talking about?

And how did they get Favre? They traded the 19th pick (later first round) for him. A win for their scouting department. Aaron Rodgers? 24th pick, again late first rounder. Another win for their scouting department.

Our scouting department? Lord Leadfoot with the 7th. Bust. The Great Gabbert with the 10th (which we traded up for). Bust. Now we have Bortles, 3rd pick, who has won 4 games in 16 starts. Not looking so good. Face it, our scouting department has been a failure for quite some time and the 7 years of piling up losses prove that.

Also, the name Trufant makes me think of a former Eagles player who has been in the NFL a very long time. What other Trufant is there in the NFL?

They're talking about the GM David Caldwell.

His post shows the Falcons draft picks after DC left them, and the Jags draft picks after DC came here.

Those are players the Falcons selected since Dave Caldwell left the Falcons.

Don't try for logic here, the original poster is being a moron.

Marcus Trufant played for the Seahaws and came to camp here in 2013.

His brother Desmond is a pretty good CB for the Falcons now.

You could play this game every team.

Since 2012 the Browns had 6 first round picks, 4 of them have been awful and the other 2 are rookies this year.

If the Jags had drafted Cooper he would've torn his ACL in the first practice and Dante Fowler would have 4.5 sacks already.

Obviously. Every team makes some mistakes in the draft. We just don't always see that for a variety of reasons. Also, don't forget many players are very talented, but fit another team's system better than ours.
