New Head Coach

Sean Payton should be the ideal choice. I would bring in McDaniels for an interview. Supposedly he was humbled by the Denver situation.

Same old retreads. Would love Peyton but New Orleans would never let him leave. He is an excellent coach. I'd probably go after some Green Bay guys like Clements or Bennet.

I might kick the tires on Brian Kelly from ND. He seems to have the right moxy and temperament to handle the league. He's also no nonsense and I think that is exactly what this franchise has needed for a long time. No more players coaches.

I also like the idea of picking off the Packers tree. Bennett is an interesting choice too. I would have to imagine Gruden or Cowher would have little to no interest in the position and unless Payton falls in our lap, I don't see many retreads I'd bother with.

Brian Kelly would be my top option if we pick a coach from the college lever.

I would prefer to stay away from the college coaches

I'm with Solid Snake. No more retreads. Now, if we get the opportunity of getting a Peyton or Reid, then go for it. But talking about guys that already have jobs is moronic. I think McDaniels would be a bad hire. I want fresh blood whose philosophy is to throw the ball around. No more power running game crap.

Quote:I'm surprised McDaniels has so many votes. He's never done anything to impress me and the Belichick/Brady make coaches look good. Everyone was hyping up Bill O'Brien on here a year or two ago and look at how well he's doing (and he has the best defensive player on the league). He's benching his QB's almost every game and treats his players like little kids.
Belichick loves him so he must contribute something.

I would want Roman the most, followed by McDaniels (The Tebow thing is sketchy)

I don't think McDaniels is a ground and pound. Brady throws it majority of the game.

Quote:You want a coach with HC experience?

In other words, you want a guy that's failed before? Makes sense.

Not necessarily. Even a guy like Marrone isn't a "failure" IMO.

1. FIRE DAVE AND GUS

2. Hire away a great GM (maybe Seattle's)

3. Make him (lol) hire Pope Urban Meyer

4. Draft the BAP regardless of position

5. ?????

6. profit

I'm very surprised by the nature of this board that Gus has 19 votes.

I wish the votes could be made public so that I could thrash whoever those 19 people are

I would mash them with full force

SPEAK UP!

I'm not totally convinced we should get rid of him either. As unhappy as I am with him, the biggest complaint I have is halftime adjustments and that can be learned. Meanwhile, how big of an affect will losing him have on Bortles? Bortles is a potential franchise QB and I don't want him ruined.

I think Gus just needed a little more time to learn before becoming a head coach. He has so much potential but we're not in the position to wait for him.

lol @ Gus having potential. What have you seen in 2 and a quarter years from him that would lead you to that conclusion? Dude is still doing the same dumb stuff

I voted to keep him for another year...

but I like stirring the pot sometimes.

Right now... I don't think firing Gus does anything... so I am not in favor of a mid (early) season firing.
