Next CBA at the earliest. The NFLPA would never approve adding more spots to the roster without a corresponding bump in the salary cap.

That negotiation is going to be painful.  At least they have the concussion suite moved forward so that can't be thrown in to the mix but the practice time and preseason are going to be a fist fight.  Not to mention the league wants 18 games.  Not looking forward to it.

I don't know if I would characterize myself as "positive" as much as I try not to be reactionary. I guess that comes with age and nearly four decades of fandom.


That said, this is one of the most frustrating losses I have ever known/seen/experienced in that time on any level.


I think the Jaguars could be 3-1 or 2-2 even with the injuries, so I do not absolve Bradley, but I would like to see where this team would be if Thomas, Marks, and Fowler were healthy.

Perhaps if we get healthy, and actually learn and apply the lessons supposedly learned from these losses, we can contend for respectability, if not the post season. Right now, though, I question whether Bradley can get the most out of these guys. It is still a young team that will make mistakes, but it is more experienced and talented than last year. This past game should have been a win.

Gus has literally done nothing to give the fans hope that he can change it around. Do we all hope? Yea but he's a bad coach. An upbeat energetic guy but bad coach.


It's not hard to beat a Luck-less Colts. I mean the Titans hung 33 on them the week before.

I keep going back to the schedule. With all of the early road games, if the team doesn't play well early, the team will be way out of contention by midseason. Without improved health and play and coaching, the team can have one or two wins by the bye week. That is why winning the Carolina and Indy games were so important.

I am really against the firing of Gus Bradley prior to the season ends as it usually only causes chasios, but that being said I might change my mind if the Jaguars find a way to lose to the Bucs this week.

Let's say he beats the Bucs.... What does that mean? He's a much better coach? We all know he's not a good coach. Do the players love him? Probably. But that doesn't matter when you're consistently losing. Especially to a team who lost a QB who is top 5 in the league.


We also lost, at home, to a Panthers team when they didn't have Benjamin and Kuechley. I mean the start of this season was gift wrapped to start 3-1 or at worst 2-2.

One continuity for Bortles can help. We can agree by the eye test, Bortles looks better this year and he is being better protected, and Olson is an improvement over Fisch. Unless you bring in a Sean Payton, not too smart changing things too dramatically. His development is still paramount.


I still think from an overall personnel standpoint, this is an up and coming team. Defensive continuity is important too. If we fired Bradley one coach I would strongly consider is Mike Smith. He is familiar with Caldwell and is basically a 4-3 guy, and we have 4-3 personnel.


Marrone would be another logical replacement because there would be a strong chance for offensive continuity.

Think of the positives. We can see if Cann is good or not and if we can let Beadles go in offseason and put him there. We also get to figure out if we need to invest in a LT this offseason as well. #GlassHalfFullTake

 

 

That's one way to look at it. Heck, even if we were to have knocked off the Colts and won the division, are we really going the distance? Any way you look at it this is yet another building year unfortunately. We might just learn that Cann is the man like we did with Linder. Next year with another strong offseason this team just might be loaded.
