Yup. You just know he is gonna survive because he knows how to push people's buttons.

..But to the earlier point, they really fumbled the way people would actually react to this. I expected some different things than what we got so far and at this point I am just along for the ride to see if they can pull it together. The real show comes back in a few weeks.

Sidenote: anyone else see the FTWD spin-off of a spin-off web series that is going to come out? Basically sounds like a series of really short clips all set on a plane with an infected human that turns. Sounds pretty hokey.

There's no one who knows how people would truly react in a situation like this. I am curious how you think they really fumbled it.

I have already stated examples previously in this thread. It doesn't matter that they never explain why zombies started popping up, it would not have been so overlooked by society if there were incidents reported across multiple states. If anyone sees and films a zombie then uploads it to the internet (as Tobias says), real or just a hoax that looks real, it would go viral within two days. That is reality. (Did you see the blue and black dress?). Retweet: OMG! Overlooking the way most people communicate on a daily basis is a massive oversight. Once people did realize it there would have been round the clock news coverage and paranoia. I really expected to see people glued to their tvs and radios and for anarchy to quickly take root as people scrambled to find weapons and supplies to survive as they tried to run to a safe haven. The riot scenes were kind of silly to be honest. A War of the Worlds style radio broadcast could have had more impact in a three minute scene than they have shown all season. They could have mirrored what would actually happen by having people get a bunch of unconfirmed info from social media and then viewers could experience the fear of isolation and uncertainty when the internet drops. Then they could have shown more first hand experience of the selfishness of man as people try to steal from others to save their own hide and try to get out of town. Then they could have increased the level of character fear as people realize there is no safe haven. The civilians in FTWD almost accidentally fall into a protected zone and act more inconvenienced than scared. That's because the writers created characters who are unrealistically self absorbed and oblivious who don't act or react like people actually would.

Most people don't communicate or get their info via "viral" craze on the net, or through social media. Far more get it through other avenues.

Finally caught up with season 5 of TWD.

Not really a fan of any of the characters yet.   Then again none of the characters have really had to deal with stuff hitting the fan yet either.  In TWD there was Glenn and Morgan.  In the games there was Lee and Clem.  But they were already dealing with the most difficult aspects, where as our characters are sort of safe.  Hopefully the Finale steps up its game.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I respectfully disagree.  Everything I know of LA says it is one of the most vacant cities in America.  There of all places, the kids would have caught wind of this as they overdosed on things trending on twitter or reddit and it would have spread like wildfire.  Just look what teens did for Slenderman.   That the show even has a character who has seen zombies on the internet and knows what's coming, but seemingly because he is portrayed as a weird loner type, we are supposed to believe the rest of the internet was incapable of picking up a buzz about this.  They could have done a whole angle on how the kids figure it out first and the adults need convincing.

I don't know about this spinoff... some rich dude, Strand, is conveniently in a holding cell (did they ever say why?) and chooses a junkie as the only person he wants to escape with. And he just happens to be able to lead them to a yacht. Then Liza gets bit and doesn't even know it.. in an area of her ribs where a zombie must have lifted up her shirt to get to. I'm just having a hard time with a show that I have to keep convincing myself.. "This could happen." At least we finally got to see a zombie horde.

Quote:My guess is that his ex is going to be the first major death.  That scene between her and Madison will take a reversal, with her asking Madison to kill her so neither Travis nor Chris has to do it.  And that becomes the point where Madison lets go of society.

Wasn't too far off!

Surprised and a little disappointed that they didn't have Madison do it.  But Travis seems like he's going to turn from Mr. Nice Guy into Mr. Not so Nice Guy really fast.

Only issue I have was the soldier actually bothering to follow them to the garage and wait there through the chaos, I eye rolled hard at that point, other than that I enjoyed it.

Yeah.. they are doing a lot of things like that. Needed a set up to show the transformation of Travis into a guy who could pummel a dude into a bloody pile of mush. Last episode he couldn't shoot a walker. Now he is a changed man. Whatevs.

He's the measuring stick of the characters.

For years prior, he's been living a primal nightmare of an existence.

The others are just now catching up to him.

Which also explains the interest Strand has in having him on the team.

"We're trained soldier that know to kill walkers you have to shoot them in the head."

Herd shows up and they just fire random bursts into the throng.  Come on.

Yeah, what a waste of ammo.

I thought the junkie and Strand were gonna get it!
