Clowney vs Bridgewater

Quote:There's the slight possibility the Jaguars can get one of the first-round billed QBs with the 33rd pick after selecting Clowney.

It's not what I'd do, but I'm not the GM.
No chance

The legit starters:

Carr

Bortles

and of course Bridgewater

will be gone before the 11th pick. The jags need a franchise qb, no time to be playing games and taking chances

Quote:Bama fan for 32 years and dont miss a game, and he's far from a "game manager"! And the fact that you noticed the butt makes me wonder who's not thinking straight!

I would take McCarron off my draft board just for having the worst tattoo I have ever seen. Doesn't seem like good decision making.

Be honest with yourself. Do you see David Caldwell taking that risk when Bridgewater is on the board?

when a once in a generation DE prospect is staring at you in the face its hard not to consider it, but if teddy is as good of a prospect as luck was, you take teddy all the time. some people dont see teddy in the tier of luck and peyton as prospects atm.  and we dont know how caldwell sees teddy and clowney as of yet so we dont know which one is the bigger gamble.

Clowney isn't a franchise changing player.

LEONARD FOURNETTE FAN CLUB PRESIDENT. I WAS BEHIND HIM WHEN YOU ALL SAID HE WAS BRANDON JACOBS. QUIT HATING ON THE JAGUARS. GUS IS GONE. COUGHLIN HAS RESTORED ORDER. FOURNETTE IS FRED TAYLOR. DONT BELIEVE ME JUST WATCH.

That "once-in-a-generation" talent is also coming into the league strapped with offseason surgery and a crappy motor. Caldwell is pretty clearly taking a quarterback in the first round at this point, so this debate is pointless. Bridgewater vs. Mariota is the only one that matters if Jacksonville secures the No. 1 pick.

Honest question HeeRo,

It is absolute fact that a GM's destiny with a team is intertwined with the first QB they draft/sign/trade for. Do you honestly, HONESTLY think Dave Caldwell in his first job as a GM ever, is going to pass on a highly rated QB prospect that is considered to be very polished and NFL ready, for a Defensive End?

its the best player in the draft vs the top rated qb and we have dire need in both position so yes brandon its still a debate.  it all depends on how he values teddy and clowney tbh, he could see it your way or mine.  if he values clowney like i do its a hard decision to pass on either due to great de = good qb imo, if he values teddy more theres really no debate.

That's just, like, your opinion man.

Who you think is starting caliber and who the Jaguars think will pan out are probably noticeably different.

If the Jags feel they can nail a two-fer by selecting Clowney and getting another QB in the 2nd, then they will. And no one will fault them for it, because it's an alternative approach that makes just as much sense as picking Bridgewater, albeit aggressive.

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

We can debate this till May, but nobody knows what Caldwell is thinking. It may be more important to him to stockpile picks and address multiple needs.

Either way, there is one guarantee. There will be a lot of furious people on here come May 8th.

1. You're not a doctor.

2. A poor motor for a pass-rusher is a "minor concern"? Seriously?

I think what we see going on in Green Bay further supports your statement.   With Rogers they are a SB front runner.  Without Rogers, they are the Jags.

Mitt Romney and Tim Tebow are bad decisions....Bridgewater is going to be a star wherever he ends up.
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

And Man-crushiel is going to be a bust.

See, anyone can make stuff up about the future.  Maybe I'm right.  Maybe you're right. But even if we are it doesn't make either of us capable of seeing the future (Though I do have a TARDIS)

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Romney : Manziel :: Vangrant : Bridgewater

what's wrong with seeing the good in both QBs? nothing wrong with liking one more than the other, but you're being ridiculous

Quote:Bone spur removal is a relatively minor procedure that shouldn't affect Clowney's draft status, although with 10 weeks left in the regular season, it will be interesting to see if his play is significantly hampered by the end of the year.
