The Giant Fire Gus & Dave Thread (MERGED)

This feels like week 3 last year. Things will be different after the half.

Quote:as I think about this, the problem is that the Jags are the only pro football team in town for us to follow. It's not the fans fault that we have no options to choose from for a hometown pro football team.

So what's Buffalo's problem?  LOL

I actually think Dave has brought in some good players.  Hurns is a baller.  Robinson is a baller.  Yeldon looks good.  Even if Bortles never makes it to the upper elite level, he is good enough to lead a team to the playoffs.  I think Dave has missed on a few free agents but for the most part I think he has done a good job.

Gus though, I think needs to go.  I hate to say it because I like Gus and I want him to succeed.  Would be much easier if I didnt like him.  But we are consistently outcoached.  And we consistently shoot ourselves in the foot with stupid penalties.  The basics.  Lining up incorrectly.  too many men on the field.  He wastes timeouts.  He botches challenges.

We have talent.  But it isnt translating into wins.  That isnt the GM.  That is the coach.

Khan and Caldwell love him. Doubt they'll fire him after all the tea parties they've had together. They have a 5 year plan to build a scary Jaygwire team.

Your "Blah blah blah fire everybody" crap is stupid. There's talent there, it just needs the right guy at the helm.

I don't know how a pro football team has an ILLEGAL FORMATION in their FIFTH GAME.

Geez, cant even line up correctly.

Would be nice, but I can't see Khan pulling the trigger until end of the season. Way to passive. Not necessarily a bad feature to have, but also not a good one.

The D has talent.

McCray is a good talent...

Cyp has shown he can ball...

But when you play cover 3 on 80% of downs and don't make the offense guess at what you're doing, you are gonna get exposed.

We are playing a pre-season defense in the regular season.  It's easy to figure out what we are doing...  That's on coaching...

Anyone that thinks Caldwell is the problem isn't really understanding what they are watching on Sundays...

I'll give you Sergio Brown as being a liability, though..  Man, that guy got exposed today.  He looked aweful...

The D line was OK, but it's just too easy to figure out how to block a 4 man front when that's all we do!!

If we don't have someone else who we think might be better who is also available then what virtue is there to firing Gus, apart from the personal gratification it might provide for some?

Reply

Nope.

As long as he's making money with the London connection then he's good.

Wish he would just move the team and be done with it

Khan doesnt seem like the impatient type.  I'd be stunned if Gus gets fired before the season is over.

Quote:I'm not on a side, my personal opinion is that Gus needs to go. The talent is there, the team is there, but the coaching is bad. 8 minutes left in the game and you're letting a motivated offense take your defense to town instead of burning a timeout to a) give your D a breather, b) allow the clock to stop c) slow down the momentum and d) rip into your D.

But my point is, the OP is being childish with the whole "HAHA I IS RITE AND YOU GAIZ ARE WRONG HAHAHAHAHA" I suppose you're his little kid friend too huh?
Yup. Nailed it.

I have been following the NFL since the 1960's. Never have I seen a worse record for a coach that has lasted this long. It really seems to me the higher management does not care if we win.

Everyone says Gus is a nice guy. Name a nice guy coach. Dungy had Manning and still only won one.

Gus is a promotional speaker. This team is young but has the talent.

PS: For all you Poz haters see what happens when he don't play?

I am not one of these fire the coach type guys but please this is getting so old. I dont see us winning another game.We have no future with this type coach.

But Caldwell is doing fine.

Sullivan is fine.

Olsen's play calling has been fine.

We actually have some players.

Stop being ignorant.
