Should The Jaguars Be Actively Shopping Shorts Right Now, Like Cleveland Is Allegedly Doing With Josh Gordon?

#21

Quote:Cleveland is doing the exact same thing with Gordon. He's basically Shorts' twin in all aspects. So why does this Cleveland shopping Gordon seem ok to everyone.....thats the vibe I get anyway

From who? Cleveland fans? or Jag fans? Cause Jag fans are fine with Cleveland shopping Gordon because it doesn't effect them. Cleveland fans are probably okay with it because they just traded away Trent Richardson and nothing will surprise them anymore, aside from actually getting a franchise Quarterback.

Just who will Bridgewater have to throw to if we get rid of Shorts? Blackmon if he can stop driving drunk (JB, I know this team has been bad and lead many to drinking... but at the very least get a designated driver bro), but that's about it really. With Bridgewater throwing to Blackmon and Shorts... in the four seconds he does have (See, I'm adding a second because of his mobility!) we may actually have an offense.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

The Browns can stock pile all the picks they want, they can't trade infront of us if we are #1 on the clock and Cecil is arguably our best player.

No. You have to leave whoever we end up drafting the talent around to succeed. If they were going to shop a receiver, it would be Blackmon I'd guess, just due to him being one strike from a year suspension.

Quote:If we beat Cleveland, which we'll almost certainly do without them having Josh Gordon, then we'll probably finish below them in draft order.

Cleveland may be a pretty bad team, but... that just means their second stringers won't come out until middle of the third Quarter. Plus they managed to beat the Vikings, so they'll probably man handle us, Josh Gordon or no.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

and Shorts is possibly one more concussion away from joining Austin Collie in retirement.

Quote:Let's create more holes by trading away one of the few good players on this team because that'll solve everything.

see above.

Its not as "slam dunk NO" as some seem to be acting.

The Jags would still have Blackmon, and if you have confidence in your GM - you trust he'll be able to replace Shorts' void anyway.

Everyone just assumes the Jags will have the number one pick....I got news for ya, once the Browns trade Gordon, they are one loss vs Jacksonville away from jumping right back into the #1 spot themselves.

We've been looking for a good receiver for years.

We finally find one.

Let's trade him!?!

Makes no sense!

TMD started this thread to get attention, and so when Shorts is on the back side of his career, or in a nasty contract negotiation he can tell everyone how brilliant he was to suggest getting rid of him when he had value. Nothing to see here but a narcissist gazing lovingly at himself in a mirror.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

we already have one, a better one in Blackmon. And while Blackmon is 1 strike away from a year suspension, CSIII is one more concussion away from joining Austin Collie for checkers at the library. Its probably more likely Shorts gets another concussion than Blackmon gets suspended again.

I guess people that say they have "confidence" in Caldwell are really only giving lip service. Because if you have it, then it shouldn't be hard for Caldwell to replace Shorts' spot if he was dealt.

Yeah, I posed it as a question because I wasn't sure. Anyway - we do have 9 total picks.

An extra 5th from Detroit and an unspecified from Seattle.

Blackmon's instability makes Shorts a "keeper" in my eyes regardless of the number of picks we have.

Did I just read that Blackmon is better than Shorts?!?

Back on the ignore list you go...

Blackmons' instability??....as said, Shorts is probably more likely to get another concussion and have to retire, than Blackmon is to getting another suspension. Concussions usually are progressive, meaning the more you sustain, the easier the next one is to get.

Yes you did, and yes he is.

LOL, the use of "ignore" as in ignorant is ironic here.

TMD have you considered the following before prematurely shopping Shorts?:

 • The Browns already have a win under their belt.
 • Blaine Gabbert is healthy again and will more than likely be starting from here on out barring injury, and if he does get injured again Henne is the next man up.
 • There's a lot more to where we draft than one head to head matchup.
 • The Browns defense has the ability to actually keep them in games. Which gives them a better probability of notching some more wins.

I was all for trading MJD a few years back, the league has changed it's a passing game now RB's are luxuries for teams that already have a passing game.

Trading away a key component of the passing game is different, trading a RB for top return made sense you could use that pick to bolster the passing game.

I think its all about the QB.

Tom Brady has crap to throw to and is 3-0.

This season should be all about solidifying the opportunity to draft "the next one" Teddy Bridgewater. ..then it will matter less who the WR are as the QB will make the WR, not the other way around.

Plus, we'll still have Blackmon who is more talented than Shorts anyway.
