The Giant Fire Gus & Dave Thread (MERGED)

Quote:Dave gutted this team and made controversial decisions like jettisoning Monroe, Smith, Jennings, without finding better replacements.

Remove your lips from Dave's [BLEEP].

The flowers will smell much better.

Learning on the job? Do you watch the games? The team has talent. The HC sucks..

It happens, he took a chance on Gus... He was actually a very sought after coach 3 years ago.

But whatever, be stupid if you want...

But know this: To say that the GM is bad because the HC can't deliver on what he promised does not mean we should fire the GM... Unless that GM cannot recognize how bad the coach is...

Gus needs to be fired. If he's not, then I'll jump on the anti-Caldwell wagon. But you guys that are freaking out about Caldwell right now are being silly...

Caldwell needs to be fired alone for bringing Cyprien into my life

I can see FBT grabbing dinner, getting into his robe, getting his cigar and glass of wine, sitting down at the laptop and taking one big deep breath before signing on to defend the team.

I like how they personally attack you because they know you are right and they are wrong.

The problem is, "they" wait until pink slips are distributed in order to put full belief in the decision that was made. At no point are they allowed to develop an opinion before this happens.

I expect to lose every week watching this team

I honestly believe that the bucs game was the most winnable one on our schedule and we blew it. It really does make the win over the phins' look pretty much like an aboration. Well, teams will be coming at the Jags with their ears pinned back and blood in their mouth. Can't blame 'em. Who would want to lose to the Jags and become the butt of football jokes as a result?

Yeah... we're that bad.

It is funny. The problem here is that you aren't and seem to have the sense of humor of Ben Stein.

His scheme sucks. Single high safety is an invitation to any competent Qb to push the ball down the field.
Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

Learn from the great collapse of 2023.

I've wanted Gus to turn out well because I like the guy. He's great to listen to and he's fun to watch. He's clearly not cut out to be a head coach though.

The ice cream. His tenure has reminded me of my favorite ice cream, 'Rocky road'

If you can't beat a Qb that's 40 years old with the flu, and a rookie QB who throws interceptions for breakfast your team has major problems.

That's coaching.

Yes...IMO, he has gotten better as a GM.  His drafts and FA acquisition have improved as he gained experience as a GM.  I think it's worth keeping him because I think he is learning and has gotten better.
