Not really his fault the defense is in the backfield as soon as they snap the ball, the big runs and better stats will come.

He is showing really really good signs. Leveon Bell looked similar rookie season and then just absolutely exploded onto the scene year 2. Let's hope for this to happen.

I can definitely see some of the Bell comparisons. They both have a very similar play style.

While Yeldon is obviously a poor mans Bell right now, I think he'll be a good RB in the NFL. He may not ever be the greatest RB in the league, but I think he'll have a good career.

Have to agree with this. I don't know why so many people around here are carrying his jock strap. His average isn't good and he's had plenty of carries at this point. Hopefully things turn around.

I think if you actually watch the game other than just stat watching you will see the talent. He has some improving to do but he is very elusive. He gets hit behind the line of scrimmage most rushes so it's hard for his average to be good. Once the OL learns to run block he should do a lot better.

No I don't think so. He looks very very average and small. He gets hit and goes down pretty easily. I don't see great vision, or power, or blazing Chris Johnson type speed. It seems New England finds a new back as easily as going to the FA market and picking one up. Or using a 5th round draft pick. We use a high draft pick on one of the most average looking SEC backs I have seen in a long time.

I think he stutter steps to much in the back field and it causes rushes that should be for three or four yard to be for no gain. The best backs make one cut and hit the hole hard; hopefully this gets better with experience.

Speed? Ran faster combine times than Eddie Lacy and faster than LeVeon Bell. Both second round picks.

Elusiveness? Slips through holes, breaks tackles and jukes guys out of their shoes.

Catches out of the backfield.

Effective pass protector.

Waits for his blocks to develop.

Not to mention, our run blocking is trash.

I'll bump this thread when you idiots are wrong again and Yeldon is a pro bowler.

I agree with this in some sense. He isn't electric, but I do think he is better than good enough. He has exceptional feet and quickness and gets yards he shouldn't. Almost reminds me of Emmitt Smith. No, I'm not saying he is Emmitt Smith, but an unassuming back that gets yard.

I disagree. Foster is a great example. Extremely patient. I think the hardest thing for backs to learn is patience.

Over 80 touches and one run over 20 yards. 3.6 per carry. Sorry he ain't Emmitt. He ain't even Lagarrett blount. Amazing NE gets these guys averaging over 4 yards a carry in their 20's.

So Yeldon may have speed but isn't football explosive, he isn't breaking any for 50,70 yards. His feet are not that fast, he has a fast shift of his hips and can sometimes make one player miss, but his footwork in the hole isn't great and is easily tripped up or brought down with an arm. Exact opposite of Emmitt Smith.

He ain't going to any pro bowls. Ever.

I totally agree on this one. I also see flashes and have faith in Yeldon becoming a star. If our Oline could block for him that would help. I do think with Blake doing more is helping too.

Emmitt wasn't explosive. His feet are really fast and he is shifty. Anyways, I'm not going argue for Yeldon against Emmitt Smith. I'm just saying they share similar attributes. Any RB will look terrible if the o-line sucks.

Hey genius. He also isn't running behind the great wall of Dallas or even the Pats o-line. You do realize how poor our run blocking is right? There were times today when Yeldon barely got his hands on the ball and he had two or 3 defenders dragging him down. We have Beadles who got blown up all day and a rookie LG playing RG, not mention the average Luke Joeckel.
