Who is the pick today?

Quote:I know we are there now, but I still don't think we are going to wind up with the needed pick to get Bosa. He would obviously be far and away the best pick if he's on the board though. I disagree with a few things. I think you HAVE to fix offensive line. I know we've been terrible at it, but it is still in dire straits. I feel like Bosa is a bit overrated and I think a lot of NFL personnel agree with me. He would play Odrick's spot anyways, which isn't exactly a huge need, nor is it really an impact position by nature. I think Hargreaves is rated exactly right. A top 10 corner. He has very good coverage skills and elite playmaking ability. His biggest knock will be his size or he would probably be top 5. The rest I pretty much agree with. Nkemdiche's best fit is as a 3 tech. Ramsey, Smith, and Jack would all be wonderful; although, I would address Otto (if we even have one next year) and FS in free agency with Von Miller and Berry/Gibson, which pretty much just leaves Smith as a MLB to replace Poz. As a dream I do something along the lines of: FA: Sign Von Miller, Eric Berry, Alex Mack, Marshall Yanda Trade: Luke Joeckel for a 5th or 6th rounder. Draft: Laremy Tunsil or Ronnie Stanley (maybe trade back for whichever is left) and package picks gained/Joeckel's compensation to move up from the 2nd to take Taylor Decker. Offensive Line should be fixed with two first rounders manning the tackle spots and All Pro's in the middle. Tunsil, Yanda, Mack, Linder, Decker with Cann, Parnell, Bowanko, and Young coming off the bench. Joeckel traded, Beadles released, and Wiz not being resigned. Hargreaves is a worthy top 10 pick for someone, just not a team that has a pretty good stable of DBs already like the Jags. No doubt he is an elite playmaker, but I think his coverage skills are a bit overrated.
As we saw multiple times last year, and a few times this year against ECU, Hargreaves is susceptible to getting burnt deep. Fortunately, a very soft slate of opposing offenses thus far, plus the overmatching dline, he has had a pretty easy job to be honest. As mentioned, VH3's size is an issue too. I like that he plays bigger than he is, and that he is very willing to stick his nose in as a tackler. Unfortunately, his size doesn't really allow him to be as big of a tackler as he tries to be. Again, as we saw repeatedly last year (and this year w/ the back issue against UT), he gets banged up frequently. It seems like half the season last year, and against against UT this year, he is leaving the field every other series because he is fighting through some kind of ailment. That does worry me as I think it could only get worse in the bigger, faster, stronger NFL. For a DB desperate team like San Fran, I would be perfectly fine with taking Hargreaves top 10...for the Jags he doesn't quite make it into the Jalen/Jaylon/Jack top tier of need/talent to me right now.

No doubt he is an elite playmaker, but I think his coverage skills are a bit overrated. Ummm... I don't really remember him getting beat deep at all at any point. I'm sure there have been a handful over his 2.5 years, but I can't remember them. Certainly not against ECU this year considering he didn't even play. Also, Ole Miss' offense isn't soft. East Carolina's is pretty good too. And Tennessee has put up some points as well. Quote:Ummm... I don't really remember him getting beat deep at all at any point. He got beat deep in the 2nd quarter for what should have been an easy TD. There was another very similar play that should have been a deep TD in I believe the Ole Miss game, too. Obviously every DB gets beat some time so I'm still not really knocking him a lot, but I think Hargreaves is going to wind up being a smaller Patrick Peterson, aka playmaker that also gives up big plays, than a Revis/Sherman true shut down corner.

There was another very similar play that should have been a deep TD in I believe the Ole Miss game, too. It was one play where he bit on a move and the defender got behind him and was incomplete. Certainly not the 3 times you were saying earlier. He did get a pick on a deep ball later in the game. Defenders getting behind you happens occasionally to even Revis and Sherman. Hell, Revis' last game in college he got torched by Louisville all day. The closest Hargreaves has ever been to torched was against Amari Cooper, even though he really didn't. He gave up like 5 catches for 60 yards and a touchdown against Amari (and that's giving him the catches where VH3 was playing zone and Amari caught the ball leaving his zone in the seams), but some like to pretend like Amari schooled him. The rest of that production came against safeties. VH3 is an excellent cover man and the deep ball isn't his issue in my opinion. He covers that very well. His coverage issue is that he doesn't have the height to cover a 6'4" receiver on a fade in the end zone and win consistently. He contests the catch, but he can't win those battles on a well-thrown ball. Like 90% of the balls caught on Hargreaves are comeback routes to the sideline for 8-12 yards. with the way this team keeps finding new ways to lose every week i don't see how we win more than 3 games.

If you were GM Dave Caldwell and had the 5th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, and your scouting team has these players at the top which are available;
(lets assume he goes Offense this time) On Offense: TE Jerell Adams SC, TE O.J. Howard Alabama, WR Aaron Burbridge, HB Leonard Fournette, QB Greg Ward Jr., WR Josh Doctson which one would you chose and why?
leonard fournette is not draft eligible.

Gotta go defense IMO. I don't care what position it may be. Meaning: even if it's a guy that plays a position that we think is already "solid," draft the new guy if he's supposed to be better than the existing one. That makes the already solid player excellent depth.
Anyway: BOSA definitely if the Jags are in that position. FS/SS CB LB I'd be okay with an offensive pick (O-LINE or play-making WR) if the Jags somehow win this crappy division and are around the 20th pick because of a playoff spot. The Bengals have been picking O-line in the 20ish range for years,, even though they already have good lineman. Boy, has it paid off. Cowboys have too. I'd be fine with the Jags doing that,, but not in the top 5 or 10 draft spots. Defense Defense Defense We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Hopefully this year we can just go best available DEFENSIVE player. If a dominant DE isn't there, get the BAP. We need more playmakers.
