2016 First Round Pick
|
Quote:If this season goes down hill, I would do the following. I obviously love the idea of getting VH3, I think he would be the best thing to this secondary in quite awhile which desperately needs the help. Bullard though is a very interesting prospect. He didn't do much his first couple years (how much is due to playtime, i don't know) but last year he stepped up and this year he's a monster already. 4 1/2 sacks through 5 games. I never thought I would see this production from Bullard, but he's definitely stepping up in the absence of Fowler. VH3, Bullard, and Fowler all starting for the Jags? GO JAGATORS!!!

1. Jaylon Smith
2. Hunter Henry 3. Robert Aguayo "A man with no sauce is lost.

But that same man can get lost in the sauce."
ROUND 1 - Jalen Ramsey S/CB
The draft is months away, many things will change between now and then but at the moment Ramsey is who I would pick. He has the full package in my opinion and will be a star in the league for years.Would be open to taking LT but Tunsil and Stanley will be gone.

Watching the Utah vs Cal game. We need to draft Jared Goff, make Bortles the dual threat, wild cat plays, backup QB

I still believe the Jags can win at least 3 more games, ending with a 4-12 record and drafting 5th in each round.
Free Agency: 1. Trumaine Johnson - CB - Rams - 6'2" 208 Lbs - 4 Years - $30 Mil (7.5 Mil/Yr) The Jags could use another CB opposite Davon House and have 5 solid CBs (Colvin - Nickel, Gratz and McCray). Johnson is a long CB that looks like a safety and has hands for the interception. The Jags must get more INTs. 2. Nigel Bradham - LB - Bills - 6'2" 241 Lbs - 4 Years - $22 Mil (5.5 Mil/Yr) The idea here is to put Bradham at the WLB spot and move Telvin Smith to SS. Telvin is bigger and faster than most safeties and having him on the field all the time will help the Jags defense. 3. Cordy Glenn - OLT - Bills - 6'6" 345 Lbs - 4 Yrs - $32 Mil (8 Mil/Yr) The Jags need help at the OLT spot. Signing Glenn allows the Jags to move Joeckel inside to OLG and trade Zane Beadles. The Jags now have three starting tackles and in short yardage situations, an OG can come in and create a 6 man OLine. Jags trade Zane Beadles for a Rd 5 selection (150) Draft: Rd 1(5): Jaylon Smith - LB - Notre Dame - 6'2" 235 Lbs Jaylon Smith may end up being the safest pick in the Top 10 selection. The Jags will line him up at SLB (Otto) and move him to MLB as needed. The idea is to have Jaylon Smith, Nigel Bradham and Telvin Smith on the field all the time in the base defense. Skuta will be used as a rotation Leo Dlineman. Rd 2(37): Darian Thompson - FS - Boise State - 6'2" 212 Lbs A big rangy Centerfield FS that has the hands and knack for the INT as well as making open field tackles. Add Thompson to Sample and Cyprien and the Jags have solid depth at the Safety position. Rd 3(69): Maliek Collins - DT - Nebraska - 6'2" 300 Lbs 3 Technique DT that can get some internal pass rush. Collins will rotate with Marks and Bennett. Rd 4(105): Yannick Ngakoue - DE Leo - Maryland - 6'2" 255 Lbs Very disruptive Leo pass rusher who is very sudden in his jump off the LOS. Rd 5(141): Joe Haig - OT - North Dakota State - 6'5" 300 Lbs Small school OLT candidate to groom for OT depth. Rd 5(150): Bryce Williams - TE - East Carolina - 6'6" 250 Lbs Good receiver and solid inline blocker at the TE position. Rd 6(177): Jonathan Williams - RB - Arkansas - 6'0" 224 Lbs Coming off a foot injury that has taken him out of the 2015 season. Solid power RB for the rotation. Rd 6(197 - Steelers): Malcolm Mitchell - WR - Georgia - 6'1" 192 Lbs Solid WR, with good hands. Rd 7(213): Reggie Northrup - LB - FSU - 6'1" 226 Lbs Coming off an ACL injury suffered in 2015 New Years Bowl Game against Oregon. Quote:I still believe the Jags can win at least 3 more games, ending with a 4-12 record and drafting 5th in each round.Probably your best to date IMO assuming of course Bosa is off the board A couple of changes I'd like to see: - Add a vet QB in FA - Draft a pass rushing DE in round (2) - Add Coby Fleener in FA instead of drafting a TE
Just a few comments...
Yannick Ngakoue - DE - Maryland has like 7 sacks through 6 games. So I did address the pass rush DE. I wanted to add that dynamic playmaking Centerfield FS and I believe you will see Darian Thompson rise up draft boards. He just has a knack for making big plays through the INT. I am happy with Chad Henne because if he is playing then the Jags are in DEEP YOGURT anyway, because Blake is not playing. Coby Fleener would be an awesome pickup but I think he will command more than 8 Mil per season and I would rather spend the money on Cordy Glenn and shore up the OLT - OLG positions than spend money on a 2nd Move TE. One player that I think the Jags might add on the relative cheap would be Jermaine Gresham. He was injured during Free Agency and took a minimum deal from Arizona just to make a roster and get a paycheck. Jermaine is a slightly better receiver than Marcedes and to me just as effective in run blocking, although, I am really high on the Bryce Williams kid out of East Carolina. Hey, should the Jags look at Doug Martin if the Bucs let him hit Free Agency? Quote:Just a few comments...Well said and well thought out as always Could Ngakoue play LE or do you see him as a LEO only? I'm hoping for bookends Good question on Martin. I personally really like the Jonathan Williams pick. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Ngakoue is purely a speed rusher. Once an OT gets a hold of him it is over.
I could see a Jonathan Bullard being the type of LDE you might be looking for, also Shaq Lawson of Clemson is intriguing. This Carl Nassib - DE - Penn State runs a 5.0/40 but has 10 sacks in 6 games. 6'7" 272 lbs - Tall and skinny. Add 28 pounds on the guy and he could be Super man. His stock is on the rise. Early 2nd may be a bit high at least for now.
To me this is an easy one, the Jaguars really need a great Cornerback!
The Jaguars draft Vernon Hargreaves Quote:Jags need a LT. Joeckle is a bust that moved up in the draft based on Manzeil's elusiveness. At least Fisher sucks and Dion Jordan's the defensive equivalent of Justin Blackmon, right? It sucked to be at the top in 2013. Quote:Once Lewis is gone we will need a 2nd TE for our double TE sets. JT and Fleener would be two huge targets for Bortles. And Yeldon will get 3 yards per carry with all the blocking help he'll have from those two. Quote:Do not discount the possibility that the Jags trade their Rd 1 pick to the Jets for Muhammed Wilkerson. If the Jaguars trade a top-three pick for Wilkerson, I will personally drive down to the stadium with a pitchfork in one hand and a torch in the other to relieve Caldwell of his GM duties.
Hire an offensive minded coach (McDaniels or Hue).
Sign Janoris Jenkins and Alex Mack. Draft 1 - Joey Bosa DE 2 - Hunter Henry TE 3 - James Connor RB 4 - Roberto Aguayo K 5 - Karl Joseph FS 6 - Hardy Nickerson Jr MLB Bosa would team with Fowler, Marks, Odrik, Miller, and Davis to give us a nasty D-Line. Hunter Henry would give us that 2nd TE we need and hopefully be that guy that always seems to pick up 1st downs against us. James Connor is a HUGE (6'2" 250) power back who would compliment Yeldon and help us in short yardage situations. We go the NE route with the Aguayo pick and hopefully we won't have to worry about kickers again for another decade. Karl Koseph is a straight up playmaker and would go much higher if it weren't for a knee injury. Nickerson seems to be a solid tackler in the middle and would be groomed to replace Poz. While I am convinced that the Jags in 2015 are a much better team talent-wise than they were in 2014, I am also convinced that the team still lacks the talent to consistently win football games and become a playoff contending football team.
I firmly believe that Gus Bradley will be given a 4th year to turn this program around even after only winning 2 games in 2015. Two wins will qualify the Jags as the team with the worst record in football and thus the team with the 1st pick in each of the 7 rounds of the 2016 college draft. Before the draft is Free Agency: Players that the Jags will allow to walk include: Marcedes Lewis - TE Andre Branch - DE Nick Jacobs - TE Bernard Pierce - RB Players they will cut during Free Agency include: Chris Clemons - DE - 4 Mil Savings in 2016 Toby Gerhart - RB - 3.5 Mil Savings in 2016 Ziggy Hood - DT - 4 Mil Savings in 2016 Players traded after Free Agency: Zane Beadles - OLG - 5.5 Mil Savings in 2016 Total Savings in Cuts/trades in 2016: 17 Mil Free Agent Signings: 1. Trumaine Johnson - CB - Rams - 6'2" 208 Lbs - 26 Yrs old in 2016 - 4 Years @ 8 Mil / Yr 2015 Stats: thru 5 games: 23 TT - 2 Ints - 6 PD Johnson will be paired with House on the outside with Colvin at the nickel, Gratz, McCray and Marshall - backups ( 6 CBs) 2. Danny Trevathan - MLB - Broncos - 6'1" 240 Lbs - 26 Yrs old in 2016 - 4 Yrs @ 7.5 Mil/Yr 2015 Stats: thru 6 games: 41 TT - 2 PD Trevathan will start over Poz, with Poz as his main backup and with some schemes with both on the field together to stop the run 3. Cordy Glenn - OLT - Bills - 6'6" 345 Lbs - 27 Yrs old in 2016 - 4 Yrs @ 8 Mil/Yr Glenn pushes Joeckel to OLG and allows the team to play with 3 OTs starting (albeit Joeckel moves to OLG) This allows the Jags to trade Zane Beadles for a Rd 5 selection and upgrade the run blocking for the Jags. NEW FREE AGENTS COST: 23.5 MIl Free Agent Resignings: 1. Stefen Wisniewski - C - 4 Yrs @ 4 Mil/Yr 2. Clay Harbor - TE - 3 Yrs @ 1.5 MIl/Yr 3. Abry Jones - DT - 3 Yrs @ 1.5 Mil/Yr 4. Ryan Davis - DE - 3 Yrs @ 2.5 Mil/Yr 5. Bryan Anger - P - 4 Yrs @ 1.5 Mil/Yr FREE AGENT RESIGNINGS COST: 11 Mil NET FREE AGENT COSTS: 23 Mil + 11 Mil - 17 Mil = 17 Mil off 2016 Cap College Draft: This draft recognizes that the Jags need to upgrade the talent on the defensive side of the ball: Rd 1(1): Joey Bosa - DE - Ohio State - 6'6" 275 Lbs 2015 Stats: thru 6 games: 27 TT - 9 TFL - 2.5 Sacks, 9 QBH, 1 Int Bosa may not be the quick twitch DE like Fowler, but I believe that he will in combination with Fowler and others become a 12+ sack per season man. One thing is for certain he will set the edge in run support. I could see him playing the BIG DE position opposite Fowler at Leo, freeing up Odrick to play more NG and 3 Tech DE. Rd 2(33): Darian Thompson - FS - Boise State - 6'2" 210 Lbs 2015 Stats: thru 7 games: 42 TT - 3 TFL - 4 Ints - 7 PD - 1 FF I believe that Thompson is the best FS prospect not named Jalen Ramsey and he will play the Centerfield FS position and allow James Sample to play the SS position with Johnathan Cyprien and Sergio Brown as the main backup Safeties. Rd 3(65): Noah Spence - DE (Leo) - Eastern Kentucky - 6'3" 261 Lbs 2015 Stats: thru 6 games: 31 TT - 12 TFL - 7 Sacks - 5 QBH - 2 FF I believe that Spence has 1st Rd talent but because of some trouble he faced in college will fall to the top of Rd 3. Spence will rotate with Fowler at the Leo position and we could see certain schemes where Fowler plays the Otto LB spot with Spence at Leo. I think Spence could be a 15+ sack per year type player. Rd 4(101): Sheldon Rankins - DT - Louisville - 6'1" 303 Lbs 2015 Stats: thru 6 games: 33 TT - 5.5 TFL - 4 Sacks - 2 QBH I see Rankins as the 3 Tech DT that will rotate with Marks to put pressure on the passer while still being a force in stopping the run. Rd 5(137): Kyler Fackrell - LB (Otto) - Utah State - 6'5" 250 Lbs 2015 Stats: thru 6 games: 37 TT - 10.5 TFL - 3 Sacks, 10 QBH, 2 FF 4 Rec. Fumbles I see Fackrell as an Otto LB to push Skuta and later take the position from Skuta. Good in coverage as well as setting the edge with the length that Bradley covets. Rd 5(150 - Beadles trade): Bryce Williams - TE - East Carolina - 6'6" 258 Lbs 2015 Stats: thru 7 games: 33 Receptions - 3 TDs Good blocker as well as good receiver over the middle of the field. Could become the blocking TE in the 2 TE set replacing Marcedes Lewis. Rd 6(173): Jonathan Williams - RB - Arkansas - 5'11" 223 Lbs 2015 Stats: Injured in 2015 Power runner to replace Gerhart and Pierce as a backup RB in the RB rotation Rd 6(195 - Scobee trade): Byron Marshall - RB/Slot WR/KR - Oregon - 5'9" 205 Lbs 2015 Stats: Injured after 4 games: 9 Receptions - 2 TDs In 2013 Marshall ran for over 1000 yards. In 2014, he had over 1400 yards of total offense. Kick Returner, possible punt returner, 3rd down RB or slot WR. Rd 7(209): Reggie Northrup - LB - FSU - 6'1" 226 Lbs 2015 Stats: thru 6 games: 38 TT - 5 QBH Good special teams player and should be able to play all three of the LB positions. |
