Quote:Do you realize the Colts were the 13th ranked pass defense coming into the game, while the Patriots were the 22nd? Silly facts. They don't matter #sarcasm

Mariota is going to be a great QB for the Titans. I like him and he'll continue to grow.

Quote:I take solace in the fact that he's a good QB and we will win a lot of games with him. And the fact that he's a better QB than Bortles. No one outside of Tennessee thinks that tack.
Mariota can be great, he has everything you want.
The only thing that he doesn't posses is a next level arm. I definitely think he was the right pick for the boondocks though
Mariota ranked #8th with a 108 rating, that is what we had all hoped Bortles would have done after starting...
it never happened...
Quote:No one outside of Tennessee thinks that tack. Reading this thread on a Jags forum, I'd have to disagree with you.

Quote:Do you realize the Colts were the 13th ranked pass defense coming into the game, while the Patriots were the 22nd? The Patriots played two of the league's top offenses with the Steelers and Bills their first two weeks, and Bortles up soemthing like 250 yards with an qb rating around 83. That's better than roughly half the starting qbs in the league for week three.

Quote:Mariota ranked #8th with a 108 rating, that is what we had all hoped Bortles would have done after starting... Week three Mariota posted a qb rating of 84.2. Bortles posted a 83.1. ...that's not exactly a huge different. Week two Mariota posted a qb rating of 96.3. Bortles posted a 102.2. Granted Mariota had an outstanding first game against a horribad team who had no game film on him, but since then it's not like he's been light-years better. Bortles actually edges him out since week one, and that includes the Jaguars game this past week against the best team in the AFC and possibly the best team in the NFL.

I believe bortles will have a better 2016 season though. Mariota has 8 TDs through 3 games and Bortles had 11 in 13.5 games.
Watching the cut-ups of the Titans-Bills game, I've come to realize that Mariota can't throw downfield worth a crap. He's strictly a dink-or-dunk passer. They mentioned early on how on passes he's thrown beyond 20 yards downfield coming into this game, Mariota is only 2 of 13. So I paid attention, and sure enough when he throws deep he's WAY off target. Aside from two plays all season, all of his bigger plays have come off from receiver YAC. Now granted he has a quick release and his short to mid-range accuracy is exceptional along with his zip on the ball, however, Blake Bortles just happens to be a far superior deep ball passer.

Mariota has certainly struggled with the deep ball so far. However, I do think that you can improve deep ball skills a bit easier than the short/mid-range skills.

I recorded the tacks game and watched about 5 offensive series the tacks had in the 2nd half. His accuracy should be a big concern for tacks fans. Some of his mid range throws are not even in target. He also got run down from behind by a line backer...

We will all get to see exactly what MM can do since the Jags still have both games against the tacks.
Hopefully the Jags D shows up, but who knows at this point.
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
Quote:i was talking about Bortles rookie year... Ah, last year. Well, let's look at their respective fourth games since we now have that stat. In his fourth start against the Bills, Mariota just posted a 68.1 rating with a mere 187 total yards, a 5.8 YPA, 0 TDs and 1 INT. In Blake's fourth game as a rookie against the Titans, he posted a 88.7 rating with 336 total yards, a 7.3 YPA, 1 TD and 1 INT. Then again, my comparison above was talking about Blake's latest starts. In Blake's last start again the Bucs he just posted a 125.4 rating with 303 total yards, a 9.2 YPA, 4 TDs and 1 INT. Blake also improved his completion percentage, which has been a sore spot, to an impressive 69.7 percent.

Mariota, Bortles, Luck, potentially three great QBs that will play against each other for more than a decade elevating the play of their respective teams and creating even greater rivalry games.
The future's so bright, you gotta wear shades! |
