It's not all bad/the Jaguars have one of the best situations in the NFL

Caldwell is at best batting 60% and at worst batting 50% with his draft/FA pickups

get that guy out of here.

we can do better.

can't believe you guys are cool with that?

I mean, we're talking about the GM who thought that Cyprien, Gerhart, and Beadles were great pickups!

If Caldwell didn't hit on what looks to be a franchise qb. That a lone give shim more leigh way to me. There has been some really good GMs that ended up lsoing their job over that prospect alone.

But I am balanced, too:

I do like what potential lies with the OL and QB of the future

he needs to knock this 2016 draft/FA out of the park since he's probably going to be around since I don't have the power to FIRE him

LOL, so those are the 3 you keep talking about...

Do you know how other GMs do?

For every "bad" pick up, I can name at least 3 or 4 good ones...  But yeah, let's get rid of him!!!   And maybe we'll be more like the Browns who keep drafting QBs every 2 or 3 years...  LOL!

He also is responsible for

CYPRIEN

Gerhart

Ace Sanders

Sergio Brown

Aaron Colvin

Gratz

and a host of other average guys

he has not drafted or signed one big time, elite, transcendent talent yet. I'm waiting, Caldwell.

At this time it's hard to get "big time, elite, transcendent talent" to come to Jax. It just is. You will definitely have to overpay them to come here and even then they might sign somewhere else for a little less after using Jax as a bargaining chip to get more then the other team wanted to pay in the first place.

Hopefully with some of the young talent looking promising out there, that will change.

Balanced is in the eye of the beholder...  But OK...

I think a new HC makes this team better.  Caldwell has created a playoff team with the proper coaching...  We should be in the playoffs this year.

We should be leading the division right now...  But it's the coaching.  It's not the player acquisition.  Yeah, Gerhart sucks...  Cyprien is OK...  Beadles is up and down...  But that doesn't mean you throw the baby out with the bath water...

Well I'm not saying I don't agree. 2016 He needs to hit on the other positions we are surely lacking or it might be time to find the GM that can take us to the promise land, he at least lead us out of Gene smiff territory

I'll be honest, guys, if you'll allow me: I just don't like Caldwell's face.

He's done *OK*

I'd give him a C

Quote:Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. This is a job man. Revis would have stayed with the Patriots if that were the case.

Not saying all guys don't care about winning.

So by this logic, you want guys on this team that want a lot of money but don't really care if they win or not.

Doesn't seem like very sound logic to me. But hey, what do I know.

OK, well I don't like your face.... :teehee:

But with that said...  I think it's fair to say he's done "OK".  A "C" is not a grade I would flame you over.  To be honest, based on the record, yeah, a C is probably fair.

And to be honest, having the best talent in the AFC South is probably a C grade...  But it would still make us a playoff team...

Ok, it may have come out wrong. I am not saying guys don't care about winning. I am just saying they care about money more. There are obviously guys in both camps here.

For the record, I have never been on the fire Caldwell train. I like what he is doing for the most part, but I feel like he needs to improve his FA track record.

Yeah, his FA track record seems bad if you focus on Gerhart.  Gerhart is the absolute worst...  And yes, Beadles is up and down.  But let's not forget that Beadles had a few really good games already this year.  He had a really bad game last Sunday, and so it's fresh in our minds.  But I would not call Beadles a bad pick up...

But we've gotten some pretty good FA's too...  Marks for instance...  House is also a good CB, despite the critiques here...  Skuta has been doing well..  I just think some of us are not looking at the entire picture when it comes to FAs, but just looking at the one stain that is the most glaring.

Plus he got a 6th rd pick for Gabbert and a pick for Scobee.

That right there is gold...  I keep mentioning this over and over again, and most people ignore it.  But as for what a GM is supposed to do, those were 2 excellent moves.
